Many years ago, I saw some comments on WB questioning why they casted a 15-year-old kid (referring to CZY) to play Xiao Yu’er. 🤣
The funny thing is, Xiao Yu’er in the novel is actually 15 years old!
So, CZY’s appearance was fitting for the role. 🤣
But in the drama, Xiao Yu’er is 19 if i am not wrong.

CZY's youthful appearance and relatively small face and head can sometimes be a disadvantage.
Despite being a grown man who will turn 28 this October, he often looks younger and has a smaller face compared to FL (It is not either his or FL fault).
This can make it challenging for him to land leading roles that require a more mature appearance. Even though we, as fans, believe he can handle such roles, the public still tends to view him as a young student in the Chinese domestic industry anyway.

When he acted in HS, everyone thought he was 17-18 years old, but he was actually 22 at the time. This perception is one reason it took him 8-10 years to land more serious and mature roles. Despite this, he has consistently proven that he is capable of performing such roles.

Only time will tell now. I don’t want to set any expectations. 😐
