I know. After seeing his family, there's no way he's the ultimate bag guy in the series.
This is such a hilarious way for the scriptwriter to show us that he isnât a bad person by nature without having to spell it out word for word. You can tell just by watching how Grandpa handles his family lol.
Man, C-drama viewers these days are like stereotypically strict Chinese parents đ Even if you score 80/100, itâs still not enough, you have to get 100/100 or apparently youâre a failure.
Meanwhile, Western parents are like, âWow, you got 70/100! You did such a great job, my baby! I love you...youâre so smart!â đ€Ł
I was thinking exactly this! Not to mention the money, she should have had to finance both studies and martial…
No, no⊠MTH must also be capable of earning a lot more money too. Otherwise, apparently, sheâs still a flat character đ
And of course, she must somehow learn martial arts all by herself. She needs to be an independent womannnnn who can do absolutely everything without anyoneâs help đ
MTH, I honestly feel so sorry for you. Youâve had such a difficult life and had to survive on your own. Sure,…
But trust me, if you had been capable of doing everything from the first few episodes, people would still complain that you had no character development because there was nothing left for you to develop. You would already be a superwoman out of nowhere.
You had to earn a living, study countless books and survive entirely on your own. So who exactly was supposed to teach you martial arts when the story clearly tells us you had no one to rely on? Were you supposed to buy a martial arts manual and train yourself in your free time? đ
Thank God Iâm not the FL in a Chinese drama because that life looks absolutely exhausting đ Just dealing with my daily job already sucks the life out of me đ
MTH, I honestly feel so sorry for you. Youâve had such a difficult life and had to survive on your own. Sure, youâre intelligent and capable of passing the imperial exam, but apparently that still isnât enough! Youâre supposed to be a scholar with both exceptional intelligence and martial arts skills as the female general because being saved by the ML apparently means youâre completely incapable of standing on your own. And now, even though youâre finally asking the Emperor to teach you martial arts halfway through the story, no, that still isnât enough. According to some people, your character development is simply far too slow. Why werenât you already a perfect superwoman within the first few episodes, Meng Tinghui? Youâve truly disappointed all those people whose lives are apparently too short to wait for proper character development đ You know, a FL must be unbelievably strong in every possible way from intelligence to martial arts or else everything she has endured in life is somehow considered flat and boring. WOW!
As a huge fan of the dense and deep storytelling in Story of Yanxi Palace and The Double, I had incredibly high…
Life is too short to keep watching a drama that makes you suffer just because things didnât go your way in the first 6 out of 32 episodes.
So many things have already happened, yet when the drama becomes dramatic, you still complain about that too. Honestly, if only six episodes are enough to make you this miserable, maybe itâs better to move on and find something that actually makes you happyđ
Looking at it positively, compared with K-dramas that release only one or two episodes a week, getting one or two episodes a day is definitely much better đ
Who is the screenwriter? I dare you to give me any bullcrap open ending. Overdo has already traumatized me enough…
The screenwriter and production team are different from those of Overdo. The director is the only one who is the same.
I still donât understand why Overdo's production team and screenwriter handled ZLH and WCRâs drama that way. It was such a waste of one of the most handsome and beautiful pairings. It wasnât the actorsâ fault at all, I just donât understand how the investors and production team came up with the idea of making the drama like that.
This is the best thing about following CZY, many of his dramas may not have much hype but the stories are usually good. Iâm rarely disappointed after watching his dramas.
LOL Mango is the only platform showing its actual view count and the drama has already reached 1 billion views on the Mango China app. Iâm still not sure whether that number reflects real views because it feels way too high to me đ But a 0.5% rating during satellite TV prime time isnât bad at all. Anyway, letâs just enjoy the show. The story keeps getting more interesting with each episode đ
To everyone who complained about MTHâs character development saying she was only book-smart, had no fighting…
Iâll say it again, the screen writer did a really good job with this drama (For now). And apparently, the novelâs author is also involved in the script, as someone mentioned below.
The visuals also keep getting better as the episodes go on. Even though the production clearly didnât have a huge budget, it still doesnât look too choppy. The costumes arenât overly elaborate or particularly outstanding but they donât look cheap either and they suit all the characters really well.
People always complain as if every drama needs a huge budget for every single aspect. This drama clearly doesnât have that kind of budget, I think it still looks pretty good considering what they had to work with.
To everyone who complained about MTHâs character development saying she was only book-smart, had no fighting skills and always needed the Emperor to save her whenever she got into trouble.
After going through so many hardships, MTH finally realizes that she needs to become stronger. She asks the Emperor to teach her swordsmanship so she can defend herself instead of always waiting for someone to save her. And the Emperor is quietly there for her, as always, ready to accept her request and patiently teach her.
If this isnât character development, then I honestly donât know what people are looking for. It was such a beautiful moment between our leads.
Some people are just too impatient to let the story flow naturally. Judging everything before it even happens makes me realize how much people rush toward the destination instead of enjoying the journey.
Our leads have such a genuine and beautifully developed relationship. Their romance isnât rushed with forced kisses or steamy scenes from the beginning. The ML waits for her and expresses his feelings through his actions rather than empty words or unnecessary kisses.
If youâre only watching for those kinds of scenes, then maybe this drama simply isnât for you. There are plenty of other dramas out there that offer exactly that.
Ep15 was everything đđ I was crying tears of happiness for our FL. That episode was so satisfying ML…
I agree with you about the scriptwriter. So far, there havenât been any major issues with a messy plot. Even though the drama deals with court politics and serious matters, the scriptwriter still manages to include funny moments without making them feel awkward or out of place.
When the story gets serious, it feels genuinely intense and heavy. But when it becomes funny or heartwarming, it still feels natural and never forced.
And Yuanâs agency is as useless as usual đ The drama reached 2 million reservations, besides the official drama account posting a poster, ZJYâs studio posted one too while Yuanâs studio did absolutely nothing.
I donât know how CZY has survived in the C-ent industry with an agency like this and the way iQiyi treats him đ

I havenât seen many zombies in C-dramas before đ
I think the drama will end next week, so you can just wait until then and binge-watch the whole thing.
