A lot of people are saying the source is quite reliable too. I also checked and apparently the earlier rumor was that Li Yunrui would be the ML. But now the rumor has suddenly changed to CZY.
Then someone asked Yu Zheng about the male lead and he said that the ML has already been decided… which immediately reminded me of those RB casting rumors. Back then, there were similar rumors floating around before anything was confirmed and then they actually turned out to be true 😩

This guy is seriously so good at praising his own work. I swear, almost every drama he produces gets the same kind of grand announcement at the beginning “amazing script,” “everyone wants it,” “huge hit incoming” but not all of them actually end up delivering the results he claimed they would, LOL.

It also ranked #1 on VIU Thailand for 2–3 weeks, while competing with plenty of Korean dramas and Thai BLs on the platform. CZY’s character also ranked #1 on Mango’s overall character chart, which requires paid voting.
And recently, Bai Lu and CZY’s characters have both ranked at the top of Huanwang Big Data as well.
So if this casting rumor is true, I can’t help wondering whether Yu Zheng sees CZY as someone who can bring attention, viewers, and discussion to the project from the very beginning. Otherwise, if his main goal were simply to promote a rising actor from his own agency, wouldn’t it make more sense to cast one of them opposite Bai Lu?

Exactly!!! And don’t even call them “supporting characters” because that would probably only be true on paper. In the actual drama, they could eventually end up getting the better storylines, more screen time, more CP moments, more intense kiss scenes, and more promotional focus while Bai Lu and CZY, the supposed FL and ML get pushed into the background and treated like side characters instead 🙄
I can imagine YZ would use the marketing tactic to buy the trending search on Weibo to sell the CP from his agency lol.... and will use the boring a$$ words like Handsome man and Beautiful Woman in this drama LOL...
I would love to see him co-star with Bai Lu, but not in a drama where YZ is the producer. I don't trust YZ one…

He has badmouthed CZY on social media from time to time, yet he could still use CZY’s popularity to bring attention to his drama while barely caring about the male lead or giving him proper material.
- He could insert as many artists from his own agency as he wants, then pair up different good-looking actors and actresses as multiple CPs just to experiment and see which pairing becomes popular. That way, he would know who to push next or who could potentially become the new face of his agency after Bai Lu.
- The ML and FL could end up feeling like side characters with a boring storyline, boring chemistry blah blah blah , while the better scenes and more interesting material are given to the supporting characters he actually wants to promote.
- And in the end, he could simply use Bai Lu and CZY’s popularity to attract viewers while using the drama mainly to push his own artists.
Then CZY would probably end up with less than five minutes per episode despite being the male lead and waste another 3–4 months filming yet another boring costume drama packed with multiple CPs and unnecessary side plots!!!
