From my perspective, proper makeup and costumes may be important for the drama, but I prioritize production quality, scenery, script, CGI, direction, and acting to make the story more engaging. Based on what I’ve seen so far from Reuters, I don’t find the plot particularly interesting yet (compared to FH, which was intriguing from the first day of filming).
However, it’s only been a few days of shooting, so I’ll reserve judgment for now.
I generally don’t watch dramas that focus solely on the love story (CZY’s acting has kept me invested from his previous work), especially since costume dramas tend to be long and can be difficult to stay engaged with. I just hope the storytelling remains strong from the first episode to the last.

Surprisingly, many bloggers on weibo (not yuanbao) are praising General Tang's look (More than Prince's Feng ig ). Esp, he was so stunning in black fur cloack yesterday.
I think his face and appearance save the costume. 🤣🤣🤣

It was one of the most popular dramas last year. You should give it a try, but if you don’t like it later, that’s totally up to you.

His face shape is truly striking, he has such a small face for a man, even in those super close-up behind-the-scenes photos, it still looks tiny. He doesn’t need bangs to frame it and still looks great. His eyes always have that spark. He might appear a bit youthful for a general, but his strong jawline gives him a manly edge as well.

When I first thought about it, I was wondering who would ever put a curly ponytail wig on the male lead 🤣 But it turns out CZY actually looks really good in it. I’m not sure how it would look on others, though.
I haven’t seen this style much in male lead costume dramas, and honestly, I don’t watch many of them anyway.

I'm not sure it's exactly like that, though. Gaining popularity outside of China would be a win-win for both the artist and their agency, they could get more opportunities for him internationally.
I’ve seen many C-artists travel to other countries to promote their dramas, which is great for selling the shows abroad. But honestly, his agency is useless. They don’t know how to work, and it seems like laziness is at the core.
