Oh I know this. There's actually an important reason why Engineer is chosen. As much as we want to believe BL shows are widely accepted there was a long running stigma. As the newer generation in Thailand has started watching BL it's gained popularity but this is a recent shift. Also there was still stigma in queerness. Engineering is one of the most respected majors. Showing queer storylines in respected roles is on purpose. It's not just "stale" writing. Also GMMTV traditionally core demographic was teenage/college age students and most shows were based on books and those books took place in those settings. With the growing popularity of the genere and more international attention we have seen that shift. There are in fact only 5 college/high school shows out of the 30 shows in GMMTV's line up. That a huge reduction. Not only that. of those 5 only one is purely high school. My Love Mix Up. Then there is Only Boo that moves from High School to college. So I mean...that's not really much at all.
