the murder cases do happen, but they're more just an excuse for Qin Wan and Yan Chi to involve themselves in court politics.

I like that the romance is clear and they already share their mutual feelings pretty early on, but they're not in a state to publicly declare their relationship so it's kind of a slog. I also like that there are some light pairings for the side characters too - maid x best bud; best girl x court bro
