Episode 7 was actually HEALING. Communication, forgiveness, understanding... it's as we love. And IM DYING for the fact that akin was about to leave Jun just bc he felt guilty and not worthy enougn to Jun for something he didn't even meant nor did. He's so sadly loveable. Peanut acting as Johnny is also so good.
started watching just now in 2025 just for xlov members, it's stupid 'cause i know who's gonna win or not since i listen to zb1 as well but i'm still very involved ! but i get mostly mad honestly, K team was too advantaged, the trainee were very not equally promoted like wumuti apperead in ep 3, Haru's dance battle released after the vote so no one knew before voting he was a great dancer- not even talking about the goofy contestants being more high ranked than the actually skilled ones, and the list of frustration is long- hopefully zb1 is good group at the end
guys I've never watched a bl, do you recommend this one as first?
it's good show but not the best to start honestly there is some scene that can be difficult to watch. My first was "I Told Sunset about you" then "Until we meet again " and i think it was perfect to start ! Then i can recommand a lot but someone already did it ( i would add "A tale of thousand star" tho , very touching )
isn't it a Thai version of the Taiwanese movie "Marry my dead Body ? " on Netflix ?? ( edit : nvm i've just seen that it's literally written in the details 😠)
Honestly I'm pretty pleased they are staying in line with the Anime... or at least I hope they do haha The Manga…
I didn't read the manga only watched the anime, i didn't knew they were different. Back then I even thought the anime was kinda toxic. Here in the drama they kept the "weirdness" so they didn't "censored" that much but it's not uncomfortable at all yeah
if my memory is good it's seems like a "healthier" version of the manga. I mean it's not super healthy to be less toxic and problematic than the original but at least it's much better and way more enjoyable as someone who have seen the anime years ago ! ( i only understood it was a adaptation of daikichi at ep 3, i started the drama because peanut from chuang asia season 2 is in the cast lmao )
I don't think that it was Great's imagination about his regrets. I believe more that it's two alternative timeline and he is stuck between. I need to see the next episode very quickly bc i'm getting lost honestly and i crave for answers ðŸ˜You know its an good and interesting series when you have to make theories, i'm so satisfied 👌
( i wanted to post an another review when i've finished but i can't- ) (To undersand my expectations, i didn't notice it was only 12 episodes l
SO NOW :
I can't lie : i spent a good time watching it. The plot never bored me, every week i waited for more. If you like Chinese BL like me, you can easily love this but we have to admit : it was not great.
First of all : The acting. ( i'm going to use the characters'name because i don't know the actors ) Jin Xiaobao was indeed good. His acting evolved with the plot, when it started going dramatic, it was enough convincing. He was lovable, dumb and pitful as he should have been. The evolution is still not that impressive but okay, let's be nice, good job to him ! then, there's Huai'en... i can't say " good job" anymore. At the beginning, it fitted the unserious vibe. But when, the serie stared to be more serious ( we're going to talk about that later ) his weak acting stared to be more problematic. He sounded too fake. The worst was his obssession over Jin Xiaobao, he was not credible. He made the romantic plot absolutly unlikely. We can't believe he actually love him, to be honest, it would have been more believable if he was actually a liar that wanted to hurt Jin's familly... Just at the end of the last episode he was better and more convaicing.
Su Yin, the doctor, the parents and the sister Xiaoyu were good. Su Yin was the most logical, interesting and convincing character in my opinion. The servant Jin Bao was cute at the beggining but it started becoming cringe at the end. Kind of like Huai'en. At least, he was adorable.
About the plot : Althought i hoped for seriousness, i would have been better to keep it light-hearted. ( I know it based on a novel so they couldn't change the story ) It would have been more credible, more touching, more enjoyable if we kept in our mind it was a simple BL, with some ups and downs. I really loved the plot twist of Jin's familly being jailed and Jin Xiaobao being tortured ( no i'm not sadistic but it was the type of twist i waited for- ) it was a good start, intersting, i really hoped the story going intense... but the situation didn't go as far as deep as it could have been. Too short to detail the universe, the backstories, the other characters, the adventure ( like searching for the magic flower ) to offer epic combats... Too long to keep us worried about Jin's fate. I sometimes went into the story but never went deeply moved like i wanted to, because it wasn't immersive. The lack of good fights is serious, Huai'en is supposed to be powerful and dangerous but i found him weak in battles. I think the main problem about this character is not the acting, but actually his writting. Maybe it is because of the character itself that the actor couldn't perform correctly... The complot, secrets, revelations etc... were interesting ! But i would love to see them instead of hearding them through long conversations between forgetable Lords. But i'm being severe, Wuxia shows are often like that due to lack of budget so it was understandable.
About the production :
The costume, the interior design and the music were great ! I have nothing to say about that, the gardens and the rooms were beautiful. The cinematography was basic but enough, nothing disturbed me or got my attention either. The colors were nice though. Otherwise the outside decors ( mainly the forests ) looks empty and fake somehow. We can see that they didn't had a lot of money to produce it but they did their best and we can cheer them for that ! The collaboration between Thailand, Taiwan and China is such a good idea, i really want to see more crossed-country productions.
Conclusion:
You can watch it if you have time. Not a loose of time, but not vital. If you're a BL fan, i think it's a good idea to see it, i was still very happy to watch a new episode every week ! I'm being critical because i had too much expectations but i'm not hating it at all ! They could have done better, that's it.
