to the people expecting this to be a full melodrama sageuk like my dearest, the red sleeve etc, have u not read…
oh and one thing for sure, the writer absolutely were having a field day writing the endings for each of the episodes bcs wdym up until now (ep11), none of them have ever come to disappoint they literally serving us w masterpiece after masterpiece πββοΈ
to the people expecting this to be a full melodrama sageuk like my dearest, the red sleeve etc, have u not read the description? it literally stated as a comedy and even if u did, i dont think having this drama fully as a melo would unlock the casts' full potential (esp sejeong as the romcom queen) bcs cant u see how nice it is to have them being silly yet in another second absolutely hitting us with those gut wrenching acting while still keeping the balance? the acting (mostly from the main leads), the writing, the cinematography, the ost, literally everything abt this drama screams perfection on its own. come on people, life is too short anyway so lets j have fun and enjoy this masterpiece without these unnecessary complain shall we? xoxo
finished this in just one day, well it successfully got me hooked till the end esp w the slowburn romance haha
anyways as most of the comments are saying, the writing of this drama could be better but honestly it wasnt that bad either. the storyline are tropey indeed but wasnt it something that most of us need sometimes? just consider it as if ure giving your braincells a little rest hhhhshs life is too short to not be enjoyed anyway
8/10 from me bcs i actually enjoyed this. and wdym the leads lack chemistry istg i wish i could count the amount of giggles i let out whenever those two were on screen i would pay thousands just to see them in their dating era longer π
i think i found this few years ago when it first aired and tried to watch some eps but never finished. not until few days ago did i stumbled upon this again, read some reviews saying that it was an interesting drama, which somehow led me to pick this up again. couldnt rmb anything abt it tho, so i decided to start all over again. took me two days to finish, but id say it was one of my best watch ever. one of the most comforting and heartwarming drama ive ever seen imo. every eps feels like a warm hug, something that makes you see the world differently. i would say most of the time a drama with this "comfort" "slice of life" premises will turn out boring for some people (im one of them) but it wasnt like that w this drama. the balance between comedy, slice of life, romance, angst is so well done imo. and honestly, if you asked if i regretted not watching this sooner, there might be a slight regret, but if you ask me on a deeper level, im actually grateful bcs i watched this now instead of before. bcs knowing myself, i dont think the past me would enjoy this drama as much as the present me would did, as all of the struggles i had these past years helped me a lot in order to appreciate this kind of drama more
finished this in one sitting and im here, mad at myself, trying to find enough reason on why i didnt started this drama sooner π HOW DID I EVEN THINK OF NOT WATCHING THIS MASTERPIECE WHEN ITS LITERALLY THERE WAITING TO BE BINGED
ive seen some clips here and there before, but istg not even once did i ever think of starting this drama. not one, i repeat, not even ONE of those clips hooked me enough to make me start this. yet today, on a fine tuesday, i was bored with nothing else to watch, and accidentally clicked on this, first ep automatically played yet somehow i didnt feel like stopping. i continued my watch, and suddenly im grateful bcs those clips never make me interested in them which leads me to keep on ignoring them when they appear and the result is, i never got spoiled π anyways here i am, almost 14 hours later, rethinking my life decision on what would happen to me if i didnt start this at all. i guess thats enough to say how i absolutely amazed with this drama. though it surely gave me a hell of a roller-coaster ride of emotion γ γ γ γ
back to the drama, as a mystery thriller lover myself, i must say this drama is absolutely my cup of tea. no, its EVEN BETTER. the story, the plot progression, the acting, everything is just chefs kiss. the element of suspense in this drama is absolutely something that will make you be on the edge of your seat the whole time. and among everything that i love about this drama, is how they made both the main leads to be so quick witted and mentally (and ofc physically) strong. not to forget the side characters too, istg these drama just full of brilliant and amazing casts. i was so immersed with their acting that i found myself cursing on my screen with them π
anyways, thats a solid 10/10 from me. sure, i DO want more from them, esp on the romance. but i was content enough with those ending they served. they were high-school students afterall lol
if i were to mention one thing i loved abt this drama is although it can be considered as a mini series/short drama (based on the number & duration of the eps), but it clearly was NOT done half-assed. seeing how those animals/livestocks were brought into the scene.... the details..... i was gagged ngl πββοΈπ«‘
anywaysss yall just need to endure ep 1 and after that you are good to go lmao. nothing extraordinary though, but somehow still manage to make you giggles and kicking your blanket like a teenage girl. storyline was tad bit similar to hometown cha cha cha (with the role reversd), minus the traumatic & heartbreaking backstories of the mcs and the villagers. was quite an enjoyable watch for me, able to finish the whole show in just one night. also a plus point bcs the leads visual are visual-ing ISTG THEYRE SO PRETTY I CANT EVEN TAKE MY EYES OFF THE SCREEN πππ
was somehow glad that i choose to start and finish this drama without reading the comments beforehand (which i usually did for other drama in my plan to watch listβ and end up not starting any bcs i was discouraged by the comments lol)
anyways back to the review, its a decent drama for me. the balance between romance, comedy, suspense and melo were done quite well imo. somehow need to give an applause to the cast esp the main leads for their amazing performance (istg every crying scene from them got me sobbing tgt w them like broooo THEY ARE THAT GOOD)
also the plot is plotting the twist is twisting π«‘ honestly the writer did quite well with the plot to keep the stories going. and oh i need to agree w a few comments below which it feels kinda draggy on the later half BUT to reduce the eps to 12 eps... i dont think its a good idea. theyre gonna miss a lot of details which in my opinion were quite important to the progress of the story. i mean yeah, they can do that by reducing the melo/slow scene but be honest w me, can the emotion that the writer and actors want to show be conveyed perfectly without all that? and its not a big problem for me bcs the cinematography is amazing so it wasnt an eye sore to look at (plus can we talk about the ost and the timing too? PURE PERFECTION π)
oh and if ure asking abt rewatch value, im gonna be honest this is not something that i prefer to rewatch (well maybe i will if i ever need a good cry lol). anyways its not bcs of the plot or anything but solely to the suspense element that we can only get during our first watch. so yeah.. i gonna give this a solid 8/10 πββοΈ
one thing that makes me feel a lil bit better from ep.9 (despite the angst and the crying party) is how the writer made sure to give the ex fiance a proper closure in their relationship (with how seokryu firmly rejected his proposal and such) also im pretty sure he wont be there anymore for the next eps (except for the flashback scene ofc) so thats already one emotional burden off for us the viewers π₯²
p/s: based on the preview and the trailer (also haein's words in that one iv) im pretty sure the conflicts around her sickness and all will be resolved by next ep (ep. 10) and ep 11 and above will be focusing on seungryu's relationship with each other and their parents
