honestly, i started watching Pursuit of Jade because i expected something similar to Legend of the Female General, with a strong female lead and solid military-political conflict, and while the early episodes were quite promising, the plot gradually loses direction in the middle and becomes inconsistent, mainly due to too many unnecessary subplots like qimin and yu qianqian’s romance which feels forced and disrupts the main pacing, while the relationship between gong sun and princess qi shu is actually more compelling, with stronger chemistry and more meaningful conflict but unfortunately not given enough focus; however, the political intrigue itself is still fairly well done and enjoyable as long as you don’t pay too much attention to the weaker romance aspects, and overall the drama remains relatively light and easy to follow, making it suitable for casual watching with a historical setting, though it may feel underwhelming for those looking for a more tightly written and emotionally impactful story.
