No, you're not the only one... I had expected a lot of passion in that storage scene (without personal feelings…
What I meant by passion wasn't feelings (related to love/affection). Just raw sexual passion. Like you want the other person so bad for their body. And that was clearly lacking after the sexual tension that had build up in the previous episodes. (But we can disagree about that, I donβt mind, I'm not trying to defend anything... I have my own references through my own experience in that matter and I'm talking from that perspective)
At first, I thought I had already seen too many BLs and became picksome. But after I read the comments, I was…
No, you're not the only one... I had expected a lot of passion in that storage scene (without personal feelings involved because they were not there yet)... But it was so platonic I didn't understand how we could go from the sauna, Fadel in his room, Style fantasizing about Fadel, to that... The scene in the kitchen on the counter also left me in the same confused state, Dunk was like a starfish π. But to be honest, I think GMMTV actors may not be trained properly for this kind of scenes because until now I didn't see the same level of passion/fire as in other BLs made by other companies (Love In the Air or Cutie Pie like you said, Love Sea, (KinnPorsche), Together with me, and others I can't remember right now). Though some scenes were still pretty convincing in Only Friends (GMMTV), but not as well made as in the series I mentioned (and it was also Jojo at the direction, like the Heart Killers...).
I am a fan of FirstKhao but something feels off about the series or there is something missingβ¦ the chem is…
Maybe it's because we're too used to see them with a lot of feelings toward each other (even anger)... And here First's character is still mostly being seductive (and not enjoying BDSM, poor boy π ) and not true to himself, and Khaotung's only dreams to have a boyfriend (not specifically Kant), and he's still mainly on the defensive, barely opening himself truly (and oscillating with his psycho persona, which doesn't help). So their relationship is all fake... But yep, future episodes will answer that question... I'm mainly waiting for the moment they develop true feelings (and see if the script/direction fleshed it out properly so that we can relate more to their relationship... for now it still feels a bit superficial, even though there was a premice in episode 4 with what happened to Babe at school, because they weren't in a dynamic of seduction anymore, and they started to know each other)... Fingers crossed!
You've already watched FirstKhao's other series as a pairing? (I'm not sure when I read your comment) Because…
Nooo don't feel guilty! It's ok to not like some ships, even because of their appearance, it doesn't make you a bad person πΊ. It's like disliking vanilla and preferring chocolate, it's just personal taste, there's nothing wrong about it. At least you've tried π.
Plus, there are plenty of other ships that you might enjoy, so no need to waste your time on those you clearly don't like. Personally once I've seen I don't like a ship at all, I don't try their other series except if excellent plot (but I'm likely to drop after 3 episodes if the ship still doesn't do it for me), or if they're with other ships, I use the speed up fonction/just skip them. And believe me, there are many ships that many people like a lot that I don't like at all, and I don't feel guilty about it (BounPrem, PondPhuwin, ForceBook, NetJames when they were together, UpPoom, etc). But I guess it's because I know why I don't like them as a ship that I don't feel guilty (and I know it's beyond my control, because it's about my personal taste, or my values like the acting, etc.) ... And for some of these ships I still do love one of the actors (Boun, Net, Poom, etc)
You've already watched FirstKhao's other series as a pairing? (I'm not sure when I read your comment) Because…
*put my answer in a spoiler to not spam the comment section*
My pleasure.
Funny that you didn't like the Eclipse (the series where FirstKhaotung play teenagers) while you liked The On1y One (that is one of my favorite BLs, the Eclipse being not far behind, with Moonlight Chicken and others). But I guess the heart wants what it wants, and we're all different in that regard π. Personally I'm a lover of (mid) slow burns and healthy relationships, so The Eclipse and the On1y One were right down my alley. And in both series, the actors could act with real depth, which was even more precious, when I compare to all the other BLs I've watched (there are other BLs where it's the case, but it's just so rare to have both main actors acting very well, usually there is one that is really better than the other, or both are just average/not really good).
Anyway, since even you can't tell why you didn't like FirstKhaotung in the Eclipse, it might just be some kind of personal taste (like, sometimes some people don't attract us at all for no reason ans it's ok), so like I said, you're indeed likely to not like them as a pair in the Heart Killers as well π (but at the same time, if you like good acting, Khaotung gives more and more some crazy/psycho vibes since episode 3 in many scenes, which is pretty great to watch π, everyone is waiting for him to snap at First's character any time soon; and First is always so good with his facial expressions, when you like good acting, it's like drinking a good wine; Joong is also really good in many scenes, and his character is very likable).
By the way, it makes me think that when I first tried to watch the Eclipse, I was like: "I don't think First and Khaotung will match together, their visuals don't seem to be compatible" and I was afraid to feel bad chills while watching them as a couple, so I just didn't continue the series. It's only because I watched Only Friends by chance that I was just like "oops, I think I almost missed one of the best pairs out there π¬" (I had already watched many many many BLs so I could compare a bit). Because they were just both outstanding in this series + they had this sexy vibe together + their kind of soulmate bond that radiated through screen even though Khaotung played a very toxic character (which is not initially my thing, Only Friends isn't even in my top list of BLs for said reason, but I can still watch a series if I'm really impressed by the actors, which was the case with them here). Anyway, so one can never know when a pair may start to click for oneself (and sometimes it never does π...). If you want, you can try this FMV, it spoils some parts of their relationship in Only Friends (though removed all the drama/toxicity), but watching 1min may tell you if you think they might be your thing at some point: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ftFOJXZ2R-8 ; or this one if you prefer to have some of the toxicity as well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jGxMJ1shdSk ...
If it still doesn't make it for you, you can give up on them already π and maybe try another series than the Heart Killers (except if you can see beyond Dunk still pretty average/not really good acting to just enjoy JoongDunk's characters and their relationship, since FirstKhao's won't be for you... but personally, since I'm also allergic to bad acting, if it weren't for the unusual & interesting plot or FirstKhao, I don't think I would watch this series... Or I'd lose interest pretty quickly, like I did with JoongDunk's other series... but everyone is different, so...).
Ok, I'll stop my rambling, thanks if you managed to read me until now (or congrats, I don't know π)
I don't like either pair,for joongdunk it's dunk's bad acting.But for the other couple even I don't know why I…
You've already watched FirstKhao's other series as a pairing? (I'm not sure when I read your comment) Because if you already don't like them, I don't think you will here. I mean, they're brilliant as usual and their chemistry is on fire, but their characters aren't to many people's taste (they're not at all the usual trope, and are pretty complex characters), so it's possible you won't like them here as well. But if you don't already know them, I may give some recommendations.
And if you didn't like Joong and Dunk before, I'm not sure the way Dunk has improved is enough to make you change your mind. I'm personally allergic to bad acting, and the first episode was the same as usual in the way they acted together (the first scene between them was really bad, it's like they were talking to a wall and not interacting, and then during the episode there was a little bit of push and pull but really I didn't feel as much as it could have been, while First and Khaotung just screamed chemistry and charisma); in the second episode, it was already better, and there was chemistry, and other positive aspects when they interacted, and I started to feel something about their characters; but then in episodes 3 & 4 it was again pretty average in many scenes (so a bit of a roller-coster concerning Dunk's acting// Joong is pretty consistent though, it's just when they're together, it will depend). But still, their characters are more easily likable than FirstKhaotung's (I'm talking in general, for what I have seen among viewers), so one may put aside the acting and just go along with the flow of the story and appreciate it (which is what I'm doing, though when I rewatch the Heart Killers, I skip JoongDunk interactions when they weren't really good in terms of acting... it's just I'm bored, I love too much seeing true chemistry/emotion/depth delivery in series...)
I hope it'll help.
Edit: just added a line between my paragraphs + a precision in my sentence "But still [...] appreciate it". And note: I'm not a native English speaker.
I didn't think I would ever watch this series because of the poor rating and the bad reviews it got. But I still…
Ton: "I made a vow. My beloved bro must be in Orgasmic Heaven tonight". (Ep 2, part 4) How can you take this series seriously when you read this? π
And don't mention Chon's request to Ton in the first minutes of the series (it was a Wuxia kind of dream): "pull out your untamed weapon and thrust it in my 9th hole"... π
I didn't think I would ever watch this series because of the poor rating and the bad reviews it got. But I still gave it a shot because I'm in a "Khaotung" mood so I'm currently watching all his series.
πAnd sincerely if you take this series as a crack with some sweet moments, it's totally worth it!π I binged-watched it in two days, while I'm really really picky with BL series (so many BLs I didn't finish π). It just made me laugh a lot. And usually I don't like side characters that much , but here they were all so funny/likable in their own ways, and they had so much chemistry together, that it felt like a big family. The plus? Neo's character trying to hit on Khaotung's character π (hey, it didn't happen in Only friends so I was sitting in the front row with my popcorn)!
But ok, the plot didn't make much sense at some point (some things weren't really coherent), and if I had taken what was happening too seriously I might have been pissed with some characters, mainly Ton. Yet, I don't think it was the intention of the narration.
β¨So definitely a series I will rewatch when I need to laugh!β¨ (but again, I can understand it's not a kind of humor that everyone likes... personally I love crazy situations, so for ex to see how dense Ton is in the first half of the series and how everyone follows his stupid ideas to convince him they're not gay is just so funny to watch... π)
