Editorials Fast paced, chilling, keep ls you on the edge
If Wishes Could Kill is a solid, chilling binge that does exactly what its premise promises: it turns everyday desires into a lethal game and keeps the tension high. The digital-age “Monkey’s Paw” is executed cleanly; the timer mechanic makes every episode feel like a ticking bomb.
The series mixes tech-horror with Korean shamanic ideas of balance, ritual, and consequence, giving it a distinct flavor beyond standard teen thriller tropes. At eight episodes (~45 minutes each), it moves quickly and keeps you clicking “Next” through reveals about the app’s creator, the spirit world, and the cost of desire. But this makes some of the explanation and reveals hard to grasp on as you quickly move to the next scene.
One thing that made this series amazing than the story was the acting, the young cast (including Kang Mi-na, Baek Sun-ho, Hyun Woo-seok, Lee Hyo-je) sell the fear and fracturing friendships well enough to make the stakes feel personal.
