The Past (Early 2000s): Koo Sang-jun (Yoon Kye-sang) runs a quiet motel but his life is destroyed when a serial killer, Ji Hyang-cheol, murders a guest in one of his rooms, leading to his family's ruin and his wife's suicide.
The Present (Early 2020s): Jeon Young-ha (Kim Yoon-seok) runs a secluded pension. His life turns into a nightmare when a mysterious, psychopathic woman named Yoo Seong-a (Go Min-si) checks in, kills her stepson there, and returns a year later, terrorizing him.
The Connection: Gi-ho (Chanyeol), the son of Sang-jun, seeks revenge against the serial killer who ruined his life. Both timelines are investigated by Detective Bo-min (Lee Jung-eun).
The Ending: Seong-a is killed by her ex-husband, Jae-sik, who acts to avenge his son, Si-hyeon. Young-ha finds closure after his year-long, fearful silence. The show concludes with Young-ha closing his pension and moving on, while Gi-ho reaches out to him.
