MUST WATCH!!
TPoB is now added to my short list of all-time-favorite series/drama. I’ve waited everyday for episode release, and it’s all worth it. No filler episodes or boring scenes(or maybe there is- the villain screen time haha). I laughed, cried, and giggled with them. I love everything here- the cast, the costumes, the acting, and the music. The chemistry between the main characters is top tier. It’s like they are not acting at all because it feels so real. LIU YUNING, THE MAN YOU ARE!! SO HANDSOME <33. FL is also so pretty!! I love TPoB to the point that I’m now reading the novel. This drama is lighter than the novel but it’s good! I am 100% sure that I will rewatch this again and again.NOW GO AND WATCH THE PRISONER OF BEAUTY!!

Honest review—it’s an average drama
I’ll be straight to the point. This drama has flaws, but it’s still watchable. Well for me, I love family dramas, and that’s the reason why I managed to finish this series despite having some issues. English is not my first language, so forgive me if there will be some grammatical mistakes here.STORY:
Messy storyline. It’s good but I wish they did better. It is fast-paced so it keeps you interested on what will happen next. Some scenes are unnecessary and are not making any sense but in the end it’s just a fictional story, so what do we expect?
ACTING:
For the FL, her acting is not consistent. It’s very bad on the first half of the drama, but she improved a bit on the second half. Idk if she’s also the one who dubbed her voice here. Her voice is also so annoying but it becomes bearable because you will get used to it after some time. Another problem is how she deliver her lines. There are some scenes where in she rushes her lines, and it doesn’t match with the emotion she needs to convey . Sometimes her tone also doesn’t match the emotion. I believe she needs to practice more in this area. For her facial expressions, it’s mostly a look of confusion. Whether she’s angry, confused, happy, or concerned, she will just put her eyebrows together and make her eyes bigger, and think she’s already acting. I guess it’s still better than having just a stiff face. Well, she improved a bit on the second half of the drama, but it’s still there. Watch the drama and you’ll know what I mean. Also, her appearance here is better than TLP. Actually it’s her best look. Her hair, outfit, and makeup suits her well compared to her previous projects. But Renmin should stop or avoid doing scenes where in she needs to have her hair untied without any accessories (example: her looks during night time). It looks weird on her.
ML is good, but lacks a bit of love in his eyes. Idk I just feel like something is lacking. He looks more inlove in LYF. Sometimes his acting also looks weird or forced but overall, he’s good. Maybe their chemistry is just weak.
Other characters: I loved them more than the main characters. The character development of the supporting characters are well-written. I love Yixiu my girl, but she should’ve chosen the han guy or maybe a better partner. (I mean he’s weird but Lin mao is also weird😅 linmao insulted her in their first meeting and he keeps calling her fat). I love Yiyu too, and for me she’s the beautiful woman in this drama. AND OFCOURSE MY FAVORITE LIN HAIRU!! She’s the best. Their acting are on point.
MUSIC:
Music is good but they didn’t stick to me that much. I don’t sing along with the music unlike to other dramas with catchy ost.
Overall it’s just an average drama. No ‘wow’ factor. Story is predictable. If you want a drama with a good ending, then this is for you.

A very beautiful drama.
If you are looking for a sign to watch this, then this is the sign. It’s now one of my favorite alongside with yanxi palace and story of minglan. If I’m not mistaken, this is the only cdrama that I’ve waited for episode release daily because I usually wait for it to be completed before binge-watching, but damn this drama is something. I super love the main leads.Perfect pacing, well-written plot, and convincing acting. Everything is just perfect in this drama. No more long review. WATCH IT NOW!!🥰

WHAT A WASTE OF EXCELLENT ACTORS
This drama started out good but then after the FL entered Concubine Yan’s place and left ML, it immediately became trashy. But the chemistry of both leads!! THEY SAVED THIS SERIES. I ONLY WATCHED IT AND MANAGED TO FINISH THIS BECAUSE OF WJY AND LXY!STORY:
I can only say that this drama wasted WJY and LXY!! So many unnecessary and boring episodes! They could’ve just made this as a movie instead of a long 32 episodes. It became so boring after around ep 15. The villain died in an easy and fast way. After the villain died, they still continued it and it’s just episodes full of fillers. They killed so many characters. :(( but I love how they kept FL friends kind till the end. No betrayal which is good. The Xiyan arc is so boring that I keep on skipping their scenes haha I only focus on FL and ML. Also, they should’ve made both FL and ML strong. They both became softies after falling in love w/ each other. FL was supposed to be as assassin but there are times they made her so weak.
ACTING:
THE ACTORS ARE SOOOOOO GOOD. Wu Jinyan and Liu Xueyi did not disappoint! Damn. Their chemistry is soo good and the kissing scenes? If I was WJY’s boyfriend in real life, I would also marry her right away after seeing her here because of how hot their chemistry and kissing scenes. She’s my all-time favorite after Yanxi Palace. Liu Xueyi also did a very great job!! His eyes? They’re so expressive! I think I’m already inlove with him. I wish someone would look at me like how the ML stared at FL here. Other characters are also great actors. Crown prince did a great job in boiling my blood because of anger haha. All are good actors, but I think SML is lacking. His eyes are blank when she stares at FL. He can do different facial expressions but his eyes are blank, that’s why I only felt annoyed during his scenes especially with the FL. His first bodyguard is even better than him. Also, please stop using aegyosal makeup. General Yin’s aegyosal is a crime. She’s supposed to look very strong because she’s a female general but because of her makeup, she looks weird.
MUSIC:

REWATCH VALUE:
I will not watch this again completely. Maybe I can rewatch some FL and ML scenes but not the whole drama. I even fast forwarded some parts, so no.
OVERALL:
If you are a super fan of WJY or LXY, then you can watch this. I’m in love with Liu XueYi even more because of this. But if you’re looking for a drama with an outstanding plot only, I don’t think this drama will satisfy you. I’ll say it again. This drama wasted great actors because of the story. My rating in overall is purely because of the leads.

Perfect! The best cdrama I’ve ever watched.
I’m not a fan of modern dramas but this drama captured my heart, and it is now my ultimate favorite cdrama of all time. I rewatched One & Only because I feel like I’ve already watched all good historical/costume dramas, so i rewatched some of them. (Yes I like the pain🤣 jk) when I first watched o&o, I didn’t even thought of watching forever and ever because I thought it’s just a modern drama with same cast for leads but no connection with o&o ( i was wrong. It’s really a continuation of O&O). After rewatching o&o for the nth time, I’ve decided to watch forever and ever now, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made!!I love the chemistry, the story, and the characters!! I only felt warmth and love throughout the series (and maybe a lil bit of anger because of his brother). No misunderstandings, and they are always communicating their thoughts. I super love it! I hope they make more dramas like this.
Acting was also good!! I super love the chemistry of all lovers here. When they cry, I also cry. Ren Jialun’s acting is top tier. THE BATH TUB SCENE???? DANG THE BEST ONE. THAT SCENE IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING I’VE EVER WATCHED. YALL SHOULD WATCH THIS DRAMA! <33
