She has seen enough marriage going through this issue of abandoning the wife for a new love interest or in the name of getting a son. Jinqi loves her and she knows it but she has not placed all of her bets on a single person. Situation in life can change and so can a person. Jinqi might love her now but it can change in future. His interest on her might reduce after he wins her heart. No one can see the future. She is a mother now and she can't be careless. She has seen death too closely for her to be deeply attached with someone emotionally. She knows how it feels to lose everything overnight. It is also a defense mechanism that kept her going during her dark times. She loves Jinqi but not more than she loves herself.

Exactly. He did not blindly follow his wife's views either. He had his own ambition. His wife just showed him the unfavorable aspects of that ambition. He left when he personally felt that change in the environment of the palace, for saving his neck (hence that 2 years time skip). Moreover, he had done things that could result in the extermination of his entire clan (Letting the deposed crown prince escape). If he rises too high, his rivals will dig deep & might get those secrets out to bring him down. The emperor might turn wary about him when there is no war & he will no longer need him. He will just find an excuse to kill him. He is keeping a low profile by quitting.

I really hope it delivers what it promised in the trailer. I was disappointed in many dramas this year which had promised a great show but turned out to be average. The trailer was a banger.

Became a fan of her since I watched The Double. My favorite director and actress due along with my love and hate Shen Yurong is coming. I wish all the best to the team, and hopefully, I will get to watch a good drama.

This drama claimed to follow the original novel. Except for swapping Yuwen Yue back to Zhuge Yue, I didnot find any similarities. Even if they had followed the novel properly, people would have watched. I got completely deceived. I didnot even understand who died and who lived at the end and how this lousy writing even got approved. I personally felt changing all rational complex characters into love brained impulsive fools was to reduce the costs from shooting battle scenes. Also, even if they had to hire new cast (which I completely understand) they should have paid more attention while casting Chu Qiao and Yan Xun. Both felt unsuitable for bearing the weight of their characters to me (Especially Chu Qiao). Though production value and cinematography was good, a horrible script ruined everything. If only they had followed the novel. It was a wasted opportunity. Highly dissappointing drama.

I would love to see Wang Yinglu & Arthur Chen together once again but I also absolutely don't want them to work with this director. This director absolutely ruined The Legend of The Female General.

She lived her life as a man behind a mask. Lived among men. Pretended like men so much that it turned into her own normal behaviour. She didn't know how to behave like a women. That is why she didn't get caught. There the show missed completely. The viewers at least me felt like she was always a woman with or without mask. There was no wonder in her when she did her first makeup or worn beautiful clothes. They certainly could have shown a scene like that. Moreover she had faced a deadly assassination attempt that led her to be in coma for a month. A severe injury should have some aftereffects when she later practiced martial arts. She was emotional over the medicine but was not shown to have concerns about those leaving permanent marks like a women would. The characterization of the main leads specifically FL was quite superficial. Nothing special to be emotionally engaging with the viewers. Except for randu where else did she actively made strategies that would make it believable to viewers she is a general. It should come as a second nature to her because she had military training. All those nice scenes which shows her potential as a general was not adopted and FL's character nor the actress played it did not have that body language to make me believe that she is battle hardened military general betrayed by her own family.
