My ID is Gangnam Beauty
First of all, I want to respond to the criticism surrounding this show. Many people claim that Cha Eun Woo is just another idol actor with good looks but no real talent, undeserving of lead roles. Others argue that Im Soo Hyang was too old for her character, while some felt the story moved too slowly and that the romance was immature.
I personally disagree with all these opinions. Cha Eun Woo proved that he is capable of strong acting. I’m not someone who usually overanalyzes performances, but the constant negativity made me watch him more closely. His character was calm, reserved, and emotionally distant, and he portrayed that personality convincingly. The subtle changes in his expressions revealed his inner thoughts, and his emotional development throughout the story felt natural and believable.
Im Soo Hyang was excellent in her role as well. Since her character undergoes plastic surgery and is meant to look more “mature” than her peers, her age never felt like an issue. She portrayed the character beautifully😌😌😌someone who appears confident and attractive on the outside but still struggles deeply with insecurity. It’s hard to imagine anyone else fitting the role better.
As for the rest of the criticism people will always find something to complain about🥺🥺
At its core, this drama tells the story of a girl who was bullied her entire childhood for her looks. Hoping to start over, she gets plastic surgery before college, believing it will change her life. However, she soon realizes that altering her appearance isn’t enough. True change comes from learning to accept herself and letting go of judging both herself and others based on appearance.
Most importantly, for me, the ending was nearly perfect. It had everything I look for in a drama finale, which doesn’t happen very often😌😌😌😌
