I understand your angle about 2nd ml but i was only rooting for him coz fl lead seemed to reciprocate his his feelings. I dropped him after he chose his careeer. What i hated about ml is his treatment of women. I dont like men who beat women no matter the reason. The way he treated xiang lan at the beginning was ruthless & many of his concubines or his main wife. There cd have been other ways. Not even his cousin was spared. Otherwise i had no problem with him. I loved how he fell for her first sight & never looked back

Yeah i guess the changes are for the best. The ML specifically was such a massive redflag that i was rooting for the other guy. This story made me know much about maid's lives so its refreshing. Just hope they relain the fl character traits.
Names & the story summary shows they changed it. But i think thats good coz though the novel is good, its a little problematic especially the male lead
If you want to know how fake MDL rating are and why you shouldn't base your decision on watching a drama on it. Just see all the positive reviews this drama has received and try to relate it to the rating. It does not corelate coz 98% of the reviews are positive.
Meanwhile check the dramas where its romance with minimal plot and just kisses every two seconds and they will be close to 9/10
Or dramas where actors/actresses have a big international following who help rate it with bias you will find all their dramas with almost 9/10 rating
Then the unfortunate actors who have antis who come to MDL purposefully to downrate.
