Yeah i was not conviced by the lack of passion. He really pines & thirsts hard for fl from the moment he actually got to see her in the garden in the book while fl doesnt care for him and is focused on being free.
I guess i just miss the intense love ljl had and never tried to hide at all

(Just book enthusiat ranting so dont mind what im saying here. Just rambling)

As someone who read the novel i think the changes are good in that they white washed the ML to make him less evil coz in the book he is just pure hot blooded evil to the women who cross him.

In ep 7 when the ML first meets fl, nothing happens & it was deal breaker for me.
Lin jinqi i know who got smitten embarassingly the moment he saw fl face could not act casually like drama lin jin qi.

My best aspect of this story in the book was the one sided love ml got for fl while fl later fell in love with sml. I feel like that was the punishment for his evilness.

Now rhat aspect of the love triangle will be no more, i feel like the story becomes regular same old.

Its no wonder they changed ml name. His name in the book is lin jinlou

I dont think an actor can act the same kind of role many times but if u want wen kexing kind of character i think the drama he is filming right now lefend of xiaofeng will have that.

But he has other good dramas that are worth a watch eventhough character is not same as wen kexing.
Here are my recommendation.

I recommend Blood River. He acts kind of villian too. Ive rewatched it multiple times. Its really good

I understand your angle about 2nd ml but i was only rooting for him coz fl lead seemed to reciprocate his his feelings. I dropped him after he chose his careeer.
What i hated about ml is his treatment of women. I dont like men who beat women no matter the reason. The way he treated xiang lan at the beginning was ruthless & many of his concubines or his main wife. There cd have been other ways. Not even his cousin was spared.
Otherwise i had no problem with him. I loved how he fell for her first sight & never looked back

Yeah i guess the changes are for the best. The ML specifically was such a massive redflag that i was rooting for the other guy.
This story made me know much about maid's lives so its refreshing.
Just hope they relain the fl character traits.

Names & the story summary shows they changed it. But i think thats good coz though the novel is good, its a little problematic especially the male lead

Ah jin reminds me of the Mexican soap Teresa. But Ah jin is more evil and messed up

If you want to know how fake MDL rating are and why you shouldn't base your decision on watching a drama on it. Just see all the positive reviews this drama has received and try to relate it to the rating. It does not corelate coz 98% of the reviews are positive.

Meanwhile check the dramas where its romance with minimal plot and just kisses every two seconds and they will be close to 9/10

Or dramas where actors/actresses have a big international following who help rate it with bias you will find all their dramas with almost 9/10 rating

Then the unfortunate actors who have antis who come to MDL purposefully to downrate.

I hate that many people trust this site

This drama should be a sold 8.7 or in rating if we were being real.

Political intrigue + Gong Jun? I like it
