Ohh now it makes sense why at the end Chi becomes the Emperor and Wan becomes the Empress in the novel. If this story is true then Chi is the only royal blood left among the other princes. He is the true qualifier for the throne.
Also does that mean Prince Jin who was the eldest son of the Emperor was actually the real royal blood , the only real son of the crown prince (who was killed by Li's dad/current Emperor)? And that's the reason why the current Emperor conspired against him and killed him in the jail?

That would make all the princes (Emperor's sons) not qualified for the throne as the Emperor himself will not be of royal blood.
