Uhhh… which drama is TYSM? 😳

It’s underrated (should be closer to 9 by MDL standards). FL character (played by Wang Chu Ran) is great and their chemistry together is 🥰🥰🥰. It’s hard to say more because there are some spoilers/secrets that get revealed throughout, but I’d recommend not reading MDL synopsis. It’s not fully accurate — just watch first episode and it explains everything (briefly, ML is local lord who uses FL as bait to catch rebel leader). FYI, the drama is available on YouTube for free but I very slightly prefer Viki subtitles (watched fully both versions).

I believe he was Foundation High and then dropped back to Qi. And to progress to Core he has to do Qi->Foundation->Qi two more times. They mentioned it once or twice in the show, but it was very brief.

Ah, no, he actually dropped a level earlier (due to NGW). But NGW kind of helped him because for leveling up he has to go drop down a level 3 times, so now he has 2 “cycles” left. #CultivationIsComplicated 😳

Have you watched Are You the One? That is one of the rare dramas with very solid writing where characters behave rationally, don’t fall for silly tricks and tropes/cliches are at a minimum. It starts off small (local) but — unlike Peony — expands over the course of the series to cover war expedition(s), different localities, political intrigue and empire-wide matters. And, personally, I enjoyed it because it’s lighter in tone (especially early on) — beloved characters don’t die every few episodes 😳🥺

Yes, pretty much the agreement in the comments is that they should’ve just done one 40-episode season of Peony. But I do hope the actors got paid per episode 😁

Season 2 was still a good drama (great cast, sets, etc.), but keep your expectations low and expect to roll your eyes a lot and to say unpleasant things about writers 🤣

Let’s be honest, what’s happening now is very minor compared to what many dramas do. I don’t like tropes & cliches either, but this isn’t nearly as bad as, for example, most of In the Name of Blossom (season 2 of Flourished Peony).

But the modern dialog will, hopefully, help her realize that the person who loved ML and was his cultivation partner was not the original owner of her body, but it was herself. Because ML is starting to use modern language (like boyfriend) in ep. 22.

It’s a good thing he didn’t say that to the current version of the FL 🫣

Ah, well, honestly Cnetz always find something to complain about (similar to anyone on social media anywhere). But nice to hear the leads may have placated them.

Official YOUKU’s account has final schedule for Week 3 and it only shows 33 episodes. Pretty much all dramas request 40 episodes nowadays even if they don’t plan to shoot that many. The benefit of having 33 episodes here is that nothing feels dragged out. The story is moving pretty quickly and we don’t have filler episodes where writers come up with random reasons for something bad to happen.

Were people pissed off? I didn’t see anything like that in the comments here. We were all just wishing for reconciliation. But it wouldn’t it be fair to claim that the writers dragged out the separation — they found each other relatively quickly and now re-establishing their bond.

It’s surprisingly good so far (through 22 of 33 episodes). There are really no love rivals to speak of — pretty much just people who want ML and/or FL dead or under their control. But it’s also not super angsty either. It’s not all rainbows and butterflies, but it’s not a constant tear fest unlike many dramas.
