The father claimed it was ML’s father who got the son killed. And now ML has to pay for his father’s sin. I mean, it’s not the worst excuse ever for a drama, but still not very realistic.

Am I the only one who finds the spy’s (inside man) motive for revenge to be really unreasonable? So, his son died because he was in ML’s father’s army… but it’s an army and many people die. Perhaps the book explained it better 😳

Yes, NGW is a lead but their story is just beginning here. We won’t see it until Season 3 😁

Very fair point. The plot feels like a video game a bit and may not be for everyone. I would say that the latest episodes have been more somber and emotional — they gave actors opportunity to show some of their strengths.

Almost no romance. Some ladies are into Main Character, but he doesn’t reciprocate for various reasons. There is one female character who has a better chance, but they are usually far apart geographically so very little interaction. That’s pretty much how it was in the original novel too — all the focus is on his journey to immortality.

Main character is not very strong initially, so he has to use his brain to fight (or flee), figure out how to get better, acquire useful items/skills, etc.

To be fair, after Ep. 1 the quality of effects increases. Now, all the fights are done well (graphics wise) and it’s mostly flying that looks a little weird / old-school.

Stricly for promotional reasons, we think. In this drama we only have Main Character and everyone else is a supporting actor.

FL is not even a love interest at this point. That may come in season 3. Donghua (animated version) has covered about 1/4 of the first novel (150+ episodes) and it hasn’t even reached the “romance” with FL point, to the best of my knowledge.

There’s no FL in this drama. There’s only Main Character and his journey to immortality. There’s no romance like a typical drama.

Interestingly, apparently Nangong in the drama appears more frequently than in the novel (up to this point). HL & NGW storyline is later in the book.

Episode 26: was it Nangong Wan who killed the bad guy 5 years ago? It looked like her but the robe color was different.

No episodes on Monday AND Sunday this week (11 and 17). Is that even legal for a C-drama?! 🤣😁

To be fair, they only showed 2-3 corpses with faces and only 9 of 12 got recognized in the end. We don’t know how long ago those 2-3 got killed so it may be plausible. Or, just think of censorship not allowing to show gory details. At any rate, parents would be able to recognize them by clothing, accessories, etc. The son (and the father) aren’t super smart, for sure, but it felt like they buried them in the mansion so they could build those statues and suppress evil spirits from the victims. Not smart by modern standards but maybe back then it made sense :)

Question: would they be able to somehow connect the ending (of Ep. 30) to what was shown in beginning of Ep. 1? That scene takes place about 200 years after current events. I’m wondering if they are going to somehow explain it or just leave it as is.

How much did manhua cover? Donghua is still only 1/4 of the way through the first novel.
