I’m so lost, I don’t even have the mental capacity to try to predict what the author meant by all this. We will see soon enough :)

It’s pretty common, unfortunately, for haters/antis to leave reviews and rate episodes claiming they’ve watched entire series even though a drama aired 5-6 episodes. That’s why it’s not unusual to have a drama have very low ratings early on — Pursuit of Jade was a recent notable exception (rankings stayed solid until closer to the end… until the episodes got leaked which invited a horde of haters/trolls who lowered score from 9.2 to 9.1).

I believe secondary characters would often meet in a Subway in HDL, but maybe my memory is failing me 😳

And it’s not like those agreements would be enforceable anyway 🙄

This drama is only 29 episodes long to keep our brains from exploding because of the work required to keep track of all the twists & turns 🤯

IU was in both dramas and Subway featured prominently in HDL. I was mostly joking 🙃 because Subway hasn’t been in as many dramas lately

Nice! FYI, dont watch Summer Strike if you want something light & fluffy (it’s more of a serious detective story than description indicates).

I do hope they don’t sign an official marriage contract for the arranged marriage. As we’ve seen in a million dramas, those contracts always will be discovered and used by enemies to drive a couple apart for an episode or two before they reconcile 🙄😁

Once Upon a Small Town is great if you just want something chill and something that doesn’t have over-the-top drama/angst that K-dramas tend to have. It’s set in a very picturesque village, has adorable animals (ML is a vet) and is very bingeable. It’s only 12 episodes x 30 minutes, so around 6 hours of watch time.

It’s not the greatest drama ever or anything like that, but I’ve seen watched it twice and enjoyed it quite a lot.

Have you watched Once Upon a Small Town? It’s way better than the MDL rating would lead you to believe.

I think in this drama we will also see that the public isn’t going to be thrilled about a dreamy prince marrying a chaebol lady. I was speaking more in the terms of what the characters need in this drama: FL needs to marry up to be better positioned to protect her status in the family (because her father wants to make her half brother the heir even though he’s useless); and the prince needs a wife who is quite capable & powerful on his side instead of a spy sent by his sister in law (prince’s motivations will probably become more clear as things develop).

That’s by design. She’s not supposed to be a good character :)

I’m not very familiar with other European royals, so British royals was my main frame of reference. The Royal Academy in the drama with its house system also feels very British (I’m tempted to make a reference to Hogwarts but obviously that system was in use before the books, lol).

I was simplifying things a bit based on pre-show information and the first two episodes:

— Royals have prestige but not rich
— Charbol are rich but no prestige
— Politicians have power (including over royals) but less prestige and less money (unless they are from a rich family).

If you just imagine that this is set in the UK, this is a completely realistic story. You have a rich FL who needs to marry into a prestigious family and then you have a ML from a prestigious family who needs to marry into a wealthy/powerful family.
