I, like most people it seems, found the concept of the story unique and intriguing and that is what led me to start watching this show. What kept me were the character developments and progression of their personalities (mainly when they become self-aware and you start seeing the VAST differences in their comic selves and shadow selves)Not going to reiterate what everyone has said so far, lot of plot holes, no REAL conclusion to any questions really, sends an overall bad message (basically supports bullying and being physical as a means to stop it). No no, my MAIN issue is the second love triangle/comic's main love triangle.
Here is the spoiler: Ju Da chooses Nam Ju over Do Hwa
The fact that she chose him isn't in itself bad, though I am very irritated that they spent a decent amount of time pushing her shadow persona and Do Hwa, its WHY she made said choice that is upsetting.
You start piecing together, through various hints and foreshadowing that Ju Da is self aware, which is dangerous due to her level of importance to the comic story and potentially upsetting the writer which you learn is never a good idea due to repercussions.
Ju Da starts falling for Do Hwa after he gave up on her because he knows both in the story and in actuality , Nam Ju can make her happy and she will have the happy ending she deserves (my mans a walking green flag honestly). This turns into the typical troupe of feeding someone attention just to take it away and that person starts missing and craving it making them "fall in love" with that person.
They both end up admitting their feelings for each other and Do Hwa starts to put together a plan to use Ha Ru to change the story allowing them to be together. However, before he can even get that thought process started, Ju Da admits to also liking Nam Ju REALLY solidifying the love triangle.
So it comes down to the wire, who will she choose, Nam Ju??? Do Hwa??? *drum roll*........Nam Ju........why? Because Nam Ju can't have a happy ending without her but Do Hwa can, and since the comic already put in all that effort AND the ending of the story is fast approaching it would be a SHAME to end all of that and leave Nam Ju empty.
So to sum that up for you right quick, her forced relationship with Nam Ju (basically a time sink) trumps Do Hwa's emotional maturity. MY MAN'S BEING PUNISHED FOR BEING ABLE TO SURVIVE WITHOUT HER.
It's like the manifestation of Stockholm Syndrome, because Ju Da was close to hating Nam Ju up until she made this decision...it's just another addition to the already massive amounts of plot holes that exist in this story.
So that's it, this is PURELY my opinion and not a lot of other people will really care about this but it left me in such an upset state I basically have no interest in ever watching this again.
Take this with a grain of salt, because we all have our own views and opinions on these matters, but that was enough for me honestly.
PS
What REALLY pissed me off is that her reason for picking him would be null and void once the world is rebuilt on another comic (which they show at the tail end of the last episode) allowing them the opportunity to show them happy together....Wouldnt even have needed to be much honestly. Just have a scene (NOT EVEN FOCUSED ON THEM) where you can clearly see them walking in the background holding hands or something.
They had the freaking opportunity, perfect chance to really wrap that story line up in a clear manner, and they just reFUSED to pull that trigger....
