This drama had potential, but in my opinion, the second male lead is a failure. He's too immature and not likable…
Maybe it's because of the age difference, right? He and FL are the same age, I think, although she's much more mature than him. I find him quite annoying sometimes and I force myself to skip scenes with him.

Exactly, that's the point many don't understand. If you want to watch a romance drama, search for romance dramas. ZZA itself isn't in that category, but rather in mystery/wuxia. As you said, people who truly enjoy this genre, a classic wuxia but adapted, will really appreciate this work, which so far is very good. I saw other comments complaining about the acting, GUYS?! Nothing is good enough for you? I think the real point is that these people like to criticize.

Really, the best thing to do is let it go, as ZZ himself said, with a slight alteration: "if you've already jumped to conclusions before knowing my story, I have nothing to say." We should let people see for themselves what they've missed, and unfortunately, most aren't giving the show a chance simply because romance isn't the central theme, but rather a possible consequence of the characters' story. Perhaps it's this majority that's "boycotting" the reviews here.

You're welcome! Someone has to have the courage to state the obvious! I even thought about replying to this particular review, but I ended up letting it go.
For the most part I agree with you. He did right thing with capturing and not killing that guy who kidnapped the…
That's the point; there are still laws for the officials themselves. In the Song Dynasty, which is the era in which the drama takes place, officials and judges were strictly forbidden from killing and judging cases as capital punishment. ZZ himself says this in the drama. For the death penalty to occur, the case must be taken to the capital's prefecture to the EMPEROR, who has the authority to decide who lives and who dies. In other words, even though he is mistreated in every way, he strictly follows the law and doesn't allow it no loopholes for his enemies to use against him; that's what it means to be an incorruptible officer, that's what it means to follow the principles he himself holds.
I am disappointed by the way ordinary people, who have never held positions of extreme importance, such as judges and court officers, tend to see ZZ's thinking as moralistic or something like that. How do you ordinary people think a justice officer should act? By killing everyone? No matter how heinous the crime, there are still laws. I saw people commenting that he shouldn't have protected the guy who...He kidnapped women to take to the pavilion, but man, that was his job, to gather evidence, and the bastard in question was proof that the definition of JUSTICE is truly fulfilled. That's it.The goal of the drama. If you don't like how real and effective justice handles cases, you shouldn't be watching dramas about justice, but rather about vigilantes. If that's the case, there's a drama for you.Very good, with an actor who looks a lot like Yang Yang, he's Taiwanese, and his name is Had I Not See the Sun.

i totally agree with you, really! sometimes i wished into the show for help her in her decisions, because her friends don't comment about it, or worse, incentive her to be devoted to ml, bro, this in real life don't make any sense. in the beginning i don't agree with her parents, but in the instant she fell into a depression, God, i cried a lot
