I grew up with C-drama since 7 and now I'm in my 30. I have watch countless dramas and shows but this is the first drama I have ever engaged in comments because it is really worth my time to do so. Everyday after watching the new episodes, I read all the comments up to that point. I feel everyone's emotions behind the comments :) It was such a journey to all of us. I like most of the comments. However, some comments are really bothering me, which is why I decide to write this post.
I understand each of us has different experience and reflection when we watch the drama depends on our life experience, preferences, current stage of life and so on. I don't have the desire or need to change anyone's perspective so keep your opinion to yourself, meanwhile in public platform please ask the smarter questions to show respect to the production team (authors, directors, screenwriters, editors, actors...). I find the comments like "they should have done this and that" is disrespectful and self-centered. You are allowed to have your POV, why aren't they - the production team - has their own perspective of their own baby? I believe within their ability to comprehend the script, the production team has tried their best to bring out the live experience to the audience. Therefore, whether you like it or not, bear with it if choose to engage OR DON'T WATCH, DON'T ENGAGE. If you want it to be different than what it is, turn off the TV, get on your computer, and write your own script!!!
Now, if you don't understand something and would like some clarification, the question start with why and how is perfect. Example: "Why/How can black fox uses lover to kill lover while they're in love with each other?" This is the intention of someone who seeks clarification vs. trying to projects their idea onto someone's like "The script is stupid. They are lovers and have great power but still be controlled by the black fox to kill their loved one. They could have done it better." Yeah right?!!! If you are that smart, go write a script and publish it. Hopefully, some producer will pick up your script and turn it into the drama. The drama is what it is because of the author's POV. As the audience, our job is to watch and experience it. Please be less judgmental and respectful toward the production team.
To all the C-drama lover in here, I don't know if we're wasting our life getting suck into the drama but I appreciate the community. I am glad to share the excitement and experiences with you all. To our next adventure, cheer!!!
The wedding ceremony for a concubine is faster than for a wife. They needed to get her away from jin renfeng quickly
HY and HZ relationship is mature, considerate, healthy, and realistic. It's not a butterfly/puppy love of young couple. I would say though, the young adult might not enjoy their relationship as much as I do. It takes some life experience to feel related to their love story. (I am in my 30 and I consider myself going through a lot of set back in relationship). I don't think there is any misunderstanding but if you count disagreement as misunderstanding, then there is one, which is when HY didn't punish Yang Yitan grand's father for Yang Yan's tragedy. HZ was upset with his decision because she questioned his integrity. She felt like he would choose to fulfill his duty as a Yiqi Alliance leader over his personal promise he made to the carp demon. She wanted to have nothing to do with him after that because she would choose otherwise. After she went back home, she is burdened by guilt that she couldn't help Yang Yan. (Yang Yan became the pregnant widow on the day of her wedding, severed her tie with Yang's family and lived secluded in the small cottage). Her father and Qinlan couldn't cheer her up. She missed her mask guy. She thought the carefree mask guy would understand her so she confided in him about the injustice she felt about the situation. However, in that same meeting the mask guy turned out to be HY, who she has just said farewell shortly before. She was already upset with HY but now heartbreaking to learn the truth.
Why is she heartbreaking? I questioned that myself at first why can't HZ accept HY as who he is at that moment . I later found my answer through Qinlan and Quzhou conversation about them. Qinlan said HY isn't a bad guy. She just doesn't want HY for her sister. Her sister loves the mask guy because of his carefree nature, which is what HZ is ultimately longing for. When HZ understood the responsibility of the Yiqi Alliance leader HY, she is consciously bidding farewell to HY because she knows the life of responsibility is not the life she wants. The carefree life with the mask man she thought of is also an illusion, so she said farewell to the mask guy as well. This is why I said it required some life experience to embrace their love story. When you're young, love is the most important factor in a relationship. As you gets older, love becomes less and less important. Love is the foundation of the relationship but trust, communication, the common goal etc... becomes the building blocks for the long lasting relationship. For HZ at that moment, they were in the first stage of dating - getting to know each other - the love wasn't big enough to rock her boat for.
After that, few more events happened. Every time, HY put so much effort to show HZ his sincerity and love toward her. Toward the end of the show, their love is big enough for HZ to choose HY over her individual goals. (compare this to the women real life event: moving in/pregnancy...: you have to make sure the guy you're dating is a solid guy to put your life on hold for; otherwise, the next few years of your life is going to be a big set back physically and full of resentment mentally). Don't you think so?

I agree with you. I haven't read the manhua nor watched the anime so I can't tell how the story flow. But with the flow of the drama, I think the S&B would be more convincing and adhesive if the screenwriter build the story based on HY character. It would be very absurd if all of the sudden he become the villain in S&B without a backstory. HY is a man of a few words. He has never tried to explain himself to anyone. When someone misunderstood him, he still keeps going toward the path he is initially aspired to do without explaining himself. - Example 1: when HZ questioned him why he didn't punished Yang Yitan grand's father for Yang Yan's tragedy. He didn't explain himself to HZ. - Example 2: when QM asked HY to spare ZZ. He was sad that QM thought so about him. All he did was to ask her "Are you thinking I'm that type of person?" I think that's why HY loves HZ so much and particularly happy when he heard HZ praised him to QL that one night in the beast kingdom. She understands him well without him explaining anything. He finds comfort in her and trust that he can confide in her. It is indeed painfully to let go of your most loved one.

- Why HY didn't kill JRF when he broke into Divine Fire Villa with his troupe? It is explained by the Wangquan butler. Firstly, Dongfang Churi is a legendary hero who built the Divine Fire Villa by himself. Perhaps, possessing his bloodline boost JRF power to be on par with HY and HZ. Meanwhile, HZ has exhausted almost all of her power to purify the Grief Tree and HY has severely injured physically and mentally from the battle with the black fox. (Evidence 1: Remember, HY lost his will to live and lying in bed until the butler mentioned he couldn't send the message to HZ after he came back from the battle. If it wasn't for HZ, HY would have been in bed for who knows when. Evidence 2: his sword was shattered by JRF when he block the blow from JRF and JRF mocked him for it.) They didn't know how to counter the leech demon blood transfusion technique until later. There is really nothing they can do and say at that moment. HY and HZ just look at each other helplessly and tear quietly fell down their cheek. Everyone at the scene understand the situation. The butler has to use Wangquan family power to back up his master. - Why taking HZ as "concubine"? I agree with @Yii that the ceremony for concubine is faster than wife. Also perhaps they are preventing JRF from using the relationship with Wangquan family to do more evil deeds. We all know how they use marriage alliance to advance family status in costume drama. Later on, when the butler came in to pick up HZ to the bride sedan, he explained to her taking HZ as the concubine is the best course of action according to the current situation. HZ responded that she understands "it is indeed the only solution to our predicament." - Why not chase after JRF when HZ attempted to assassinate JRF? HZ and HY both took a hit from JRF. HZ vomited blood. HY looked fine at the scene but later on lying in bed at home. She was crying at the side of his bed saying that taking a blow from JRF might destroy all his cultivation. It strengthen the thesis for me that HZ knew it would be a greater risk than reward if they chase after JRF so she stops him from chasing after JRF. For her, keeping him safe is far more important to her.
I understand some details that we are as the viewers wish to happen and think it's better to do this or that. But honestly, if we really put ourselves into the character shoes, we would do the same because of our limit. Let's just enjoy the along ride the character brings us to instead of trying to project our idea on it. It would lessen the enjoyment and annoy us, don't you think so?
