Because the story so far is great in showing that what's matter is mutual understanding, communication and will to get know each other in more personal and intimate matter. And for him it was also about seeing her as herself, as a person not a family He despise, and also him stopping blaming himself for 'betraying' his brother father and grandfather... But if you ask me personally... He fell for her already in ep 4 And for the rest of the episodes he just needed to get some brain in that empty head to figure it out himself

Helped her to escape, asked her family to accept it, helped her and her husband to stabilise their position and safety of the land her husbad took over... And the sudden Attack actually endangering them as well as everyone in there if Wei Shao failed... Her husband became a leader and got an army, with which comes responsibility on its own. If she want carefree life, made her husband step down from his position and live an actual carefree life she wish for. Because XQ don't want to protect nation and power, but every single other DQ and their husbands as well. I would be a freakin beach because this was not just selfish but awfull as she wanted XQ remain silent in front of her husband So he will not made his own decision...
