I hated the ending. I'd rather have a generic revenge ending than that horrible one. Makiko wasn't punished for what she did; she destroyed the protagonist's mother's life.The protagonist's father is simply the worst kind of person, he preferred his career to investigating the fire, and also the protagonist gathered a lot of evidence against Makiko and didn't use any of it.
