I understood what you meant and all we can do is analyze a show/book or anything based on our personal experiences and upbringing. What I see that could happen is that FH realizes that he’s treating her poorly and that could be a complete turn off. If saying that “I’m not ready RIGHT NOW” leaves the door a little bit open instead of rudeness. Again, we have our own perceptions and limits to what we can accept and that’s fine.

That’s the thing, they were children and children express themselves differently cuz lack of vocabulary and emotional immaturity. As adults behavior should change a little but that doesn’t mean friendships dies.
