I see it completely different. First of all, it's not a similar concept to me because ThamePo is also about MARS…
I respect your opinion even though we think differently. We are aloud to! :) To answer your comment....Yes, the series is about friendship and love also, but that has nothing to do with my comparison. What I meant was that the basic concept is similar, not the same but similar. Of course they are two different series and they are not the SAME, but imo that shares several similarities. Yes, the series is also about MARS, which is a music group, so in my eyes it's still about the music industry. It's just that they choose to focus on one single group and not several. It's the same in "Lovely writer". They doesn't focus on every actor in the industry but those who are related to Nubsib and the series he is participating in, "Bad engineer". Yes, Po is in the center along with William, they are the main characters?! The same goes for "Lovely writer", Gene along with Nubsib is in the center because they are the main characters. I never said that there love story should "take up all he space", but the story should imo switch between the topics in a way that they feel intertwined and not like 2 separate story's competing with each other for screen time. I know that there are circumstances behind both Thame and Po that can influence how they act on their feelings. I believe though, that how you act on your feelings not only depends on whether you have been in love before or not. I think your personality also affects how you deal with that. To go back to my comparison of the two series again, I don't care either if the development of the relationship is slow (which is also what I said in my original comment). In "Lovely writer" they also have a slow development and in their case neither of them have experience in love. They do not become a thing before at least ep 6 or 7 I think, don't remember exactly since it was a while since I last watched it. Imo the development of the relationship can absolutely go slow, but Thame and Po still could have interacted more. Those are two different things! I don't blame the actors what so ever, I think it's more about how the story in itself are written that people are reacting to. Although I'm a bit disappointed that nothing happened between them in this ep I still like the series. I looooove Est and William and I looooove their acting and their chemistry, the rest of LYKN is also reaaaaallllyyyy good at portraying their roles, which is why I will keep watching the show. <3 <3 <3 <3 Just something to think about though....I checked the views and likes for "Lovely writer", as I myself at least see similarities with that series and "Thame Po", and there's a huuuuuuuuuge difference, 5,2 million for "Lovely writer" and 960 000 for "Thame Po"...(Ok, I know that "Lovely writer" has been available on YouTube for 3 years, but I don't think they have increased in views that much over time). I can tell that you are not a fan, or at least not a "superfan", of "Lovely writer" and that's totally fine. I didn't bring that series up because I happen to like it, but because of the similarities I can see between them (purely based on facts, not on my feelings or opinions of either of the series). Although it's sad to say, numbers don't lie and there's a reason for the drastic drop in views between ep 6 (almost 600 000 views) and ep 7 (a little more than 300 000). It's a drop of almost half the numbers compared to ep 6. I myself also wish it would have more views because of the actors. They are soooooooooo f***ing good! :D <3 Everyone that has said that Est is an extremely underrated actor are damn right about that! There's something missing in the story line though, which is sadly but highly likely the reason for the drastic drop in views. I still look forward to the next ep though and reaaaallllly hope that we get to see some "action" between Thame and Po in that ep. :) Have a nice evening or day ;P (depending on where you are) Peace, love and understanding! ;) <3
From reading all these comments I think I now understand my own feelings and thoughts about it. Many of us probably had a different expectation on the series than what it really came to be. My anticipations were really high for this series but I sadly have to say that they somehow missed the mark. I don't really know what the director and author had in mind, but I really wish that they would have made the series in a more similar way to "Lovely writer". I'll try to explain what I mean by that. In both "Lovely writer" and "Thame Po heart that skips a beat" it's like they want the series to include two different topics (if that's what we can call it) at the same time. In "Lovely writer" we have both the topic of Gene and Nubsib and how they meet each other and their love story begins, and then you also have the topic of 'how the acting industry is working and what comes with it'. Those two topics are running in parallel throughout the whole series. In "Thame Po heart that skips a beat" we have a similar "concept" with the topic of Thame and Po and how they meet each other and their love story begins, and then we also have the topic of 'how the music industry is working and what comes with it'. The differences of these two series are several. First of all the ep is "just" 45 min each in "Thame Po" whereas in "Lovely writer" the ep is 1 h and 5 min. After a bit of calculating that means that "Lovely writer" has 3-4 hours MORE screentime than "Thame Po" despite the fact that the latter one has ONE MORE EP than the first one. In 3-4 hours A LOT can happen. Another difference is that they keep us on are toes with Gene and Nubsib throughout the whole series with different kinds of interactions and sweet/intense moments now and then, BUT at the same time they also make the story revolve around the acting industry and still manage to keep that topic alive. They somehow braids/intertwine those two topics together so we as an audience are satisfied with what is given to us about BOTH topics. In my personal opinion they are not successful in doing the same in "Thame Po". There are too little interactions between the main cp and more importantly there are too little intense scenes. As someone else said, it doesn't necessarily mean a lot of kissing or NC-scenes. Tension between two people can be made in millions of different ways, like when they hide behind the shelf together and because of the limited space have to stand extremely close to each other. I don't mind either that a series has a slow pace or a slow development, but there has to be something that intrigues us to keep watching. I feel bad (and sad) for the actors involved cuz the acting imo are top notch. I'm still gonna keep watching the series though because I like the actors and their acting. I'm still a bit curious also about what direction the series will take after today's ep.
