As I expected, Wei Yan wasn’t actually the mastermind behind all the chaos. Deep down, he wasn’t as evil as portrayed—he didn’t suddenly turn bad without reason. From the beginning to the end, his actions never really showed any malicious intent. It’s very different from Li Taifu, who was truly evil from the start, driven by his ambition for power and constantly scheming and badmouthing others to the emperor. Meanwhile, Wei Yan was just casually chatting with his buddies and ended up blurting things out without thinking.
Zhang Linghe and Tian Xiwei have incredible chemistry as Chang Zheng here. They should totally reunite in a modern drama 🤭
Overall, I give it a solid 10/10 The story is light and easy to follow, making it perfect even for people who aren’t big fans of costume dramas. The acting from the entire cast is great, and the OST is really enjoyable too 😍
