newtopia my favorite series

In the wake of a zombie outbreak, Newtopia is one of the last safe zones where humans can survive, but even in this isolated place, life is anything but easy. Jaeyoon, a soldier, has to balance the dangerous and unpredictable nature of his job with his commitment to his long-distance relationship with Youngjoo. Their love is real, but the circumstances of the apocalypse make it nearly impossible to communicate properly.

Jaeyoon and Youngjoo, despite their deep affection for each other, face the usual issues of long-distance relationships—misunderstandings, communication breakdowns, and the frustrations of only connecting via sporadic phone calls and video chats. The ongoing zombie attacks create constant interruptions, making their moments of connection both hilarious and heartbreaking. Adding to the chaos is Jaeyoon’s relationship with his fellow soldier, Ra In-ho, whose antics provide plenty of comic relief during the most intense moments.

Characters and Chemistry
Jaeyoon, the tough and stoic soldier, contrasts wonderfully with Youngjoo, who is trying her best to stay optimistic despite the separation. Their chemistry is undeniable, with Jaeyoon's vulnerability shining through during their video calls or brief moments of contact. The series excels at showing their love, even as it’s constantly put to the test by the chaos of their world.

Youngjoo’s character is full of heart and humor as she navigates the stress of the apocalypse and the frustration of trying to keep her relationship with Jaeyoon afloat. Their misunderstandings are both comedic and relatable, with Youngjoo often feeling neglected or unsure about Jaeyoon’s commitment, especially when technical difficulties or zombies disrupt their conversations.
