Well like you said they didn't drop their work or it could have been someones last moment. Here huazi would not die in the next second. plus she is a person who cares about others more if wanghe dropped the funeral she would have been more mad and stress. Plus I guess he also needed to buy the ring and research for doctor. And in real life we have all kinds of people some who drop everything, some practical and some who just ignore it or leave people alone. I feel in the story the screen did justice as if wanghe dropped everything and run it wouldn't fit his practical personality and he had already caused a big mess which needed to be clean.
