i hate adaptations where they change literally everything about the story except the names. like what's the point. i will try to watch it without associating it with the webtoon...

Your stupidity is killing me. I suggest you open a history book or two. Everything about your secular and civilized "christian countries" is thee mythology you need to unlearn first. In those very secular countries, aside from their own bigoted history and beliefs, islamaphobia actually produces victims in this day and age so this is a whole other aspect to consider as well. I suggest you take your applauds and hit your head with them, maybe it will change something in there.

They do depict something but the characters are my issue with this. Why tf is anyone in charge here actually in…
I get your frustration and it's very valid but to be honest, even as I read your response, all I could think was how accurate it was to real life 😅. It is frustrating to see people in power act like children, seeing them act all high and mighty to the powerless but then get their tails between their legs when they are in front of a "higher" person. And against such a person, the common folk has no choice but to bend down. I can agree that the first three episodes progressed relatively slow but I think it's a good thing that we got to see those people for who they truly were. Of course, all of this would be pointless if the show didn't actually continued to show this part of the corruption and add anything more to it... So let's watch and see!! I'd love to keep critiquing and hear your thoughts::)
An insult to the novel and the author. A complete waste of time. I just don't understand what was the point of changing the essence of a work this badly instead of just making it an original work. Also I'm not saying people cannot enjoy this movie and it has no redeeming qualities -although I will never know because I will never watch this- but at the very least try to put yourself in the shoes of the author who spent years to create a book series with incredible depth, character studies and world building. If you knew nothing about the movie, and watched and enjoyed it, it's all good. But if you are thinking of watching and just checking out what people are saying and reading this, I would say don't waste your time.
The apparent hierarchy between the laborers, the bandits and the police bureau was depicted so well. I really enjoyed the almost chain pieces-like climb up the social ladder; when you think the person who sits at the head of the table is in charge, you seem them bowing down to someone else. The whole machinery with all its cogs is rotten and rusty. I can't wait to see how this upside-down order will turn into a proper trade center.
