Cultivation drama with no romance, just pure Xianxia cultivation
It's nice to watch a Xianxia drama without any tacky romance involved. Yang Yan portrayed Han Li’s personality so well, he is low-key, pragmatic, and opportunistic; he survives and rises through sheer caution, persistence, and resourcefulness. I love that they made sure Han Li stayed away from getting emotionally attached to these clingy women. The story is about his process of climbing the cultivation ladder toward immortality so it's good that his mindset never deviated throughout the whole story. Also, I don't understand why Gina Jin was the Female lead when she was barely in the drama, she should have been just a Supporting role, she is not that good of an actress anyway. And to be honest if she was to be Han Li's love in this drama, I would say that it is a mistake because they have absolutely no chemistry at all in the very little scenes they had together and she was always looking to kill him, like WTF?!! Loved the other supporting actors that fought by Han Li's side. The fight scenes were good although some did become looking repetitive especially when using the same fighting techniques and artifacts. All in all, this drama is a good watch, it wasn't boring to me at all. The ending didn't surprise me at all because this is supposed to be adapted from the novel "A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality' which has a total of 2451 chapters; so the question now is will there be a season 2 and when??Was this review helpful to you?
Absolutely Wonderful Family Drama
All I can say is I absolutely LOVE everything about this drama. It's a refreshing perspective about family, personal growth, and healing. The strong acting, realistic characters, and engaging storyline makes this an outstanding drama that is worth watching again and again. This drama had it all, it was very heartfelt, funny, genuine, relatable, strong emotions. The 3 main actors had great chemistry together, and their performance was amazing!! Over the years these 3 main actors have become great actors and are quite popular now. I have definitely added this to my saved list on iQiyi and Viki so I can watch it again...lolWas this review helpful to you?
Worth Watching
This drama was straight to the point; it was not long-drawn-out boring episodes like many dramas out there. The romance was also straight to the point, no childish games played, no manipulative hidden agendas, just sweet and simple. It was nice to be able to watch a drama without having to fast forward thru episodes like some dramas who fill their episodes with many unnecessary drawn-out scenes just so they can extend the number of episodes their drama has so that they have more air time which equals more money.The cast was good, I'm a fan of Ao Ruipeng, I feel he has improved his acting skills a great deal lately with every drama he has taken on. Overall, this drama is definitely worth watching every episode to the very end if you like investigative thriller with some sweet simple romance.

Love Song Wei Long but not the Female lead
I absolutely love Song Wei Long in every drama and movie he is in. I think he is a great actor on top of being extremely handsome and sexy. This drama so far is interesting, however I do NOT like the female lead actress at all, it would be better if they choose someone more mature. Her acting is extremely poor and immature like a child drooling over her love crush, it's so annoying. She is more focused on falling inlove with the male lead rather than help solve the mystery of the relics. This is suppose to be a quest to subdue the Seven Relics of Ill Omen NOT a Romance quest. I have to skip over parts of her childlessly acting flirting like an idiot towards the male lead because it is so annoying and has nothing to do with their actual mission. Could be better if they chose a better more mature actress. I'll continue to watch only because I'm interested in the the Seven Relics of Ill Omen and I love Song Wei Long and Ao Rui Peng.Was this review helpful to you?
Excruciatingly Boring!!!
All I can say is this drama is just too boring to continue watching after 3rd episode. And I agree with others that the idea the FL poisoned her husband the ML right away is purely idiotic and the poison ends up being uncurable like what the heck!!! If she truly believes he killed her father then why not just kill him right away, why bother poisoning him for what??!! What is the writer's logic is this? Also it looks like there is absolutely NO chemistry between the FL and ML. All in all the story line is just boring and dumb, not worth wasting my time to watch 36 episodes of pure boredom!Was this review helpful to you?
