I will follow Zheyuan’s choices.
Personally, I do love idol romance dramas — they’re easy to watch and enjoyable.
However, if he wants to stabilise his position in the Chinese entertainment industry, he needs to do more than that.
Idol dramas are good for boosting traffic, but they’re not enough to establish a strong actor position in C‑ent, in my opinion. (See WuLei or XiaoZhan, what type of dramas they have currently?)
Hidden Love gave Zheyuan double‑edged swords: success and traffic on one hand but also doubts and the “idol romance actor” label on the other.
However, if you read the reviews for Fated Hearts, even though it wasn’t as successful as expected, many people still acknowledged his acting skills and his position in C‑ent.

Based on the co-star (forget the drama)

1. XRH - He can be proud gege
2. CDL - I want to see Zheyuan manipulate CDL to call him gege like he did to Liqin haha!
3. WCR - she is pretty close to Cheng Lei. Cheng Lei is Zheyuan's close friend. I hope they will be ok.

Based on the melon drama (forget the co-star)

1. CDL - Bu Xing, xianxia, original script is better. Not my fav genre. But Zheyuan can stabilise his position here.
2. WCR - Tales of Floating World, if they change the script, Ao Qi is also a strong character then this should be ok. Director Yi Jun in your hand we trust the execution
3. XRH - Wreckless Marriage? seriously hahaha!! Typical short drama, so no thanks!

Me too!! Even though I was a bit sad the melon with CDL went to another actor due to their current drama chemistry. But it is ok, if it is not meant to be then it is not. Pretty sure, there are better melon for Zheyuan in the future with good co-star/s such as Xin Zhi Lei hahahaha. After their weibo photo together, I have hope they can be together in drama, maybe not as a lover couple. Something more mature and serious.

Yeap I agree. I always laugh everytime I heard DNAD’s love story main obstacle is genre. He should do something like this, a very minimal CP. Modern drama - Idol Romance - should be paused for a bit. Let Zheyuan stabilise his career first!

Summaries of Zheyuan's costume characters:

Not sure if people heard about CZY commented on Tang Qianzi. I think based on TQZ personalities, TQZ did not give him acting thrills (especially the shooting time was right after Feng Suige). TQZ is emotionally flat by design (lol). But for audience, TQZ is green-flag ML, emotionally safe, and ideal partner. Are we ready to get our Duan Jiaxu back in costume drama?? I cant wait!!

I am on my way to Episode 12 at this stage haha! I don't get bored. But not sure if this is better than Fated Hearts ( ChenZheyuan is my favourite!! I also love LiQin aura as a female general is still top notch) hahaha. Don't get me wrong I love Jing Tian since I watched Si Jin!! Omg she was born in 1988, good aging face.

Three things I want to highlight about Chen Zheyuan in my eyes:
Thoughtful — he carefully calculates his moves, especially in his career.
Respectful — he consistently shows respect toward others, especially seniors like Yang Di and He Laoshi.
Introverted — he keeps a small circle, but those relationships run deep.

The reason I mentioned WCR above is not to degrade Zheyuan. I simply want to emphasize that everyone can make mistakes, and she likely learned the hard way. JSWP → career repositioning, authority, prestige
Chasing Dream → stability, trust, broad audience comfort
Light the Dark → credibility and deeper acting résumé

If Zheyuan takes the upcoming project in May—and I truly hope the script has been revised (especially since Ao Qi, the dragon, appears on the promotional page)—the genre‑mixing strongly suggests career expansion. This would not be another idol romance, but a prestige fantasy drama that could elevate him into a myth‑scale leading role.
And I’m pretty sure Zheyuan would also want us to respect his co‑stars, right?
