As a Chinese person who loves history, I hate this drama. Its core is steeped in feudal values—every woman is portrayed as needing to rely on a man, using men to compete with other women, and even glorifying patriarchy. The mindset behind the original novel is twisted, and the adaptation only makes it worse. Ancient China wasn’t like this. Releasing something so distasteful for modern audiences serves no purpose other than to indulge the author’s warped fantasies and force them on viewers. I honestly can't see any value in it. You can read books actually written by people from ancient times—Dream of the Red Chamber isn’t nearly as feudal as this. This doesn’t reflect real life in the Song dynasty at all.
