The imoogi has an excuse for the overacting because he's experiencing everything for the first time so I understand the style but for everyone else I feel like the subdued act is what's appropriate given that it's still Joseon. The scene where the king and the imoogi were about to punch each other feels too theatre-y and rehearsed it shows especially with the stills they released.

It's like he's a king and on top of that the king is still acting to make himself feel like a king. At first it's the reason why I was suspicious of his character hahaha.
I like this show a lot so which should I watch while waiting for new episodes, Mr. Queen or AoS? Both are being mentioned when they compare it to the show however I'm apprehensive with both bc for Mr. Queen, I'm not that in the mood for comedy and imo it's the weak parts of THP but for AoS I'm not sure if I can commit to a 2 season show.
I love yook sung jae in this role, never knew he was such a great actor. I know he did a lot of side roles, and…
Really? I find the king's performance a bit over the top... maybe I haven't been watching a lot of kdramas and more into western style of acting these days so I get taken out of immersion when it's a little too overdramatic. Subtlety is what impresses me. Sungjae is good as the imoogi but they say that's just him being himself so I can't really credit that much into acting. I've seen the king act in Ballerina but as a bad guy and I much prefer his performance there.
That would be the director. I’m sure the actors may not like the dramatic pauses either, but they have to give…
I used to think this but I've been in a near death accident and my reflex didn't work at all I was frozen. In a way I kind of understand now when it happens in shows. Still it's obvious that's the style of the director and I think they did that for easier editing purposes and drama effect
