What happened?
This is a first for the ThamMac couple, so yes, I wasn't expecting much. But of course, I still wanted to see a good series.
The chemistry between ThamMac is there, especially with their fresh aura. Story-wise, since this is a university-set series, I was honestly expecting a cliché storyline, and I was kind of right, except for the magic-thingy involved. Other than that, I haven't really seen anything new.
During the first few episodes, I was so invested in seeing how Khobfah and Rin's relationship would progress, especially with their opposite personalities. What I loved about their dynamic was Khobfah's bad-boy introvert side paired with Rin, the famous extrovert. That's what got me hyped for their relationship!
However, my excitement kind of died down when Khobfah started developing feelings for Rin and his bad-boy image slowly disappeared, too. I was hoping to see more of that contrast between them because that's what made their dynamic interesting to me in the first place.
As for the kissing scenes, I understand that they might not be that perfect yet. It still fits Khobfah's character, though, since he's new to everything, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt there.
As the story progressed, I wished we could have seen more of the magic dynamics, especially since Rin was already tangled up in his witch side, even though it was fake. I just think exploring that aspect more could have given the story a unique selling point and made it stand out from other university-set series. It felt like there was potential there that wasn't fully explored.
Now, for the second couple, AunStamp. I don't know what was missing with this pairing because I loved them in Revamp. Is it the chemistry? Or is it just that I hated their characters in UB that much? I'm not the only one, right? 😭 Their characters didn't really have much development, and that's one of my biggest issues with them. Most villains I hate have a purpose behind their actions, even if I disagree with them. But with these two, it felt like I was just hating them without fully understanding the why behind their actions. I needed more depth and development to understand their motivations.
Production-wise, again, I wasn't expecting much, but at least give us a better bus ride scene! 😭🤣 The green screen was so noticeable throughout the entire series. And don't even get me started on the Battle of the Bands part. I'll just save my thoughts about that one in my head. LOL.
