K-Drama A lot of twists...
It was good at first and then it just got boring. There's so many twists and turns that normally should make a show good but in this case after a while it just didn't land how it should've. It got tiring. After it started getting tiring I kept waiting for it to get good again and ultimately gave up watching this show. I don't see any enjoyment in continuing watching this.
I was hooked in the first episode. Loved it by the second episode. It seemed to be an enemies to lovers kinda thing. Yan Rui was shown as this cruel man who killed a beggar. She doesn't like him at first and I couldn't wait for them to get to know each other and fall in love...
Honestly the amount of scandals this family has is absurd. In another historical drama, just one of these would make the whole family ashamed, some falling ill from anger or shame. It would have consequences. Emotional consequences as well as plot consequences. But? It all gets solved pretty quickly and is just a way for the story to reveal something and move onto the next thing. Yunya JUST GOT AWAY WITH IT. Why hadn't they married her off quickly?! Oh right. The mascot thing.
This is tagged "Married Life" and so I was expecting for one of the scandals to lead to that pretty quickly... NOPE.
And the "sisterly" dynamic was more tell than show. She was barely there. And the grandma, how is she making a living? Does she have savings? Isn't she poor?
ROMANCE --- where was it? Okay, ML saves FL a bunch. ML gets interested in her as a person who calculates. (Oh yeah, she's apparently a good schemer but by the 24th episode I'd almost forgotten that fact. Anyway...) FL only starts trusting him a bit. Starts thinking that ML reminds her of a childhood friend. Okay. WHERE is the romance? To me it really does seem one sided and then suddenly they are both in love. I didn't FEEL it.
Honestly? This is pretty forgettable. I'm struggling to remember some of the episodes. I don't feel anything for the villains -- not hatred or fear, just nothing. I don't care about them at all. And I think that was the first sign that I fell out of love with this show.
I first binged this and caught up around the episode 17 mark. I LOVED it then and eagerly waited for the next episode. But then a few episodes later, I accidently put this on hold. There was no urge to just immediately watch the latest episodes. I've been trying to watch this but I can't anymore. I ended up watching a whole drama and dropping another one in the meantime. I got to 6 minutes into episode 25 so, 24 full episodes of this. I should have dropped it sooner.
Acting: They did their best. I think it's poor writing. The sets and everything are fantastic. But the rest is just meh. Good at first but quickly fizzled out.
It had potential, though.
