Have zhang linghe dubbed previously in his other dramas? It takes practice to master dubbing as you have to know…
And you know..in both Pursuit of Jade and Overdo, Zhang Linghe is dubbed by the same person: Yi Fan. That really shows how much production quality matters. Same voice actor doesn’t mean the same performance. The feel comes from the dubbing direction, tone, pacing, emotional layering and how well it syncs with the acting not just the raw voice itself. That is why POJ feels natural and immersive, while Overdo feels lighter and a bit off. Excellent execution makes all the difference!
Sorry I dislike dubbing in this drama Zhang Linghe’s real voice is actually warm and expressive, but in Overdo he sounds like a generic studio voice. When an actor performs, the emotion comes from three things together: the face, the body, the voice if you remove the real voice, you remove half the soul of the performance. The acting feels disconnected. Rest in pieces, pre-release excitement. I had a good run 😔
I loved how every character and storyline wove together themes of mentorship, family, and the ever-changing cycles of people and society. Liu Hao Cun was wonderful as Yi Qin e ... she is clearly made for strong female led roles. That said, I wish the drama had given her more space to fully portray Qin es personal growth, rather than primarily using her as a catalyst for the other characters arcs. Still, every qinqiang performance she delivered was absolutely incredible.
Love on the Turquoise Land is a confident, visually gorgeous drama that respects its audience’s intelligence. It’s NOT just another pretty fantasy romance .. it has heart, lore, and strong leads who carry the story beautifully. Highly recommended if you enjoy elevated fantasy with romance and mystery (think a more grounded The Untamed mixed with Word of Honor vibes). One of Dilraba’s best works to date.
I know Actors can express love through longing glances, subtle touches, or charged dialogue. A lingering look or a moment of vulnerability can hit harder than a kiss but come on! Those kisses feel so fake and ruin the magic, probably due to poor execution bad chemistry, awkward staging, or overdone theatrics...i don't know.
In Overdo, the dubbing weakens his presence.
