I was honestly really disappointed by the finale. They did such a good job making the JBN head seem like the key to Shindo’s father’s case… only for him to be a ‘good guy’ all along? Along with the old politician? It felt very unsatisfying. I understand that they’re building hooks for a Season 2, but with the fallout from Mei Nagano’s scandal, I don’t know whether it’ll ever happen…
Did they ever explain why Ichinose wanted to erase Motohashi’s laptop? Or if she really was the one who leaked Shindo’s photos to the press?
I also felt like Mei Nagano’s character became underutilised in the last episode. She came in blazing with determination to seek a bigger scoop than Shindo, only to become a plot device to develop the plot further in the final episode (always agreeing to Shindo’s instructions). I almost forgot she was a player in the game until the ending scene.
Came in for Michi, stayed for Hiroshi Abe, the premise, the plot and the mystery… but the ending really disappointed me.
