Why Do People Like This Show?
I will start with all the actors did an AMAZING job and this review isn't about their acting or how they did their roles. I have no fault at all with them. That being said, this movie was so disappointing. The high reviews deceived me into believing it was a good show. I did laugh out loud about 5 times throughout the show and First and Khao were the highlight of the whole series. I loved them!
Like I said the actors all around did fantastic, they nailed all the comedic parts and I loved them. The story on the other hand was the main issue for me.
MAJOR SPOILERS BELOW....
First off, the way Heng was written made him seem like he had a mental handicap. He was a 30 yr old man and acted like a 14 yr old child most of the time. I'm not saying that a grown man can't be clueless and happy and a yes man, but this guy was so much worse than that. I don't know maybe it was me, but I had a hard time seeing him as a grown up. He doesn't say no to anyone. Constantly stutters and NEVER says what he means. Nor does he question anyones actions or motives. He just goes alone with whatever anyone tells him and it's frustrating. The bright side to this character was Earth. He did an amazing job and he was so funny. I loved seeing him as a bright cheery person instead of the stoic smoldering 'alpha' type he usually does.
Next we have the boss. This character was HIGHLY inappropriate and crossed so many lines it was kind of disturbing. He stalked Heng, had LOTS of pictures of Heng in a file on his computer, background pic on his phone, and wouldn't listen to a thing Heng said or better yet, let him get a word in. He couldn't or wouldn't read the room either when he was pressuring Heng and making him NOTICEABLY uncomfortable. The boss character was gross in his action and the villain of this show. The actor was awesome, he did a fantastic job and sometimes I felt sorry for his character having a crush on Heng. But then he overshadowed any of that when he pushed his way into Heng's life, lived with him for a year without ANY indication of any romantic feelings or a SINGLE date and then proposes to Heng in the middle of a mall concert and doesn't listen to Heng at any point. Then when Heng loses his memories, the boss uses that to pressure Heng into still marrying him even though he KNOWS Heng loves Mo and was going to call off the 'wedding'. During the wedding if Heng wouldn't have faltered, the boss would have gone through with it, but since he conceded "defeat" we are supposed to think he's a good guy? nope.
Then we have Mo. Good lord that character is a MAJOR selfish jerk. He was such an a hole to Heng. HE DOESN'T COMMUNICATE ANYTHING. Then walks around with a hurt puppy dog face. He plays with Heng's emotions and throws tantrums when he doesn't get his way. He made no sense. He wants to date Heng, Heng finally agrees when Mo says he won't be his friend anymore. Emotional blackmail. Next Mo doesn't want anyone to know they are dating. Mo doesn't want to tell Heng's mom they are dating. Mo goes along with Heng's mom when she mistakes Heng's friend as his girlfriend. Mo's idea, but he punishes Heng for it. Breaks up with him for it. Heng is literally BEGGING Mo, with tear running down his face, not to go because he loves him so much, and Mo still says he doesn't want to be with him or love him anymore and walks out. FOR A YEAR!!!! When Heng loses his memories, Mo just lets him go get married even though he KNOWS Heng is being pressured and doesn't want it. He is just ok with him marrying someone else and possibly being forced to sleep with said icky 'husband' on the honeymoon he definitely did not want. But NOT ONE WORD for Mo. He is such an unlikable character most of the time. It made me want to punch Mix in his beautiful face numerous times!
Then we get to the ending!! Mo and Heng FINALLY get together.........for like a week and then Heng leaves for Japan for THREE YEARS. They get engaged, which was one of the best parts in the show, and that's it. Mo stays in Thailand and Heng leaves for Japan. The End.
Again, I really loved all the actors and the cameo from First and Khao made it worth the pain of the rest of the series. I sincerely did not like the story and kind of wish I would have skipped it.

Not a BL
This was a frustrating watch. Coming off of Gun and Off's others series it was really disappointing. It wasn't really a bl series. More like a bunch of work colleagues and their day to day work life.Characters:
Ryan - He barely spoke. He just stared a lot and didn't really do much. He just kind of went with the flow and did what anyone asked him to without any fight. He especially let Jane walk all over him. He kept referring to older people as adults. Dude is in college. He is an adult, but he acted more like a freshman in high school. The whole not knowing your feelings is over used in a lot of bl's and I was sad to see it here as well.
Jane - He was an a hole for the most part. Selfish and confusing. He strung Ryan along by playing into the interns crush on him, but never really admitting his feelings back. He kept telling Ryan he could ask him anything, however dude barely ever answered any of the questioned. He would disappear and not answer texts, then wonder why Ryan was mad at him or 'sulking'. Then one little line to stroke Ryan's ego and dude is smiling at Jane like a little school girl. It was so frustrating to watch.
Pie and Pat were great! I loved them both. I honestly wish there had been more of them and less of the other characters.
Tae and Ba-Mhee - I could take or leave them. Their relationship was on the toxic side. Tae was a walking man baby and Ba-Mhee was his mother. She cheats on him when he isn't giving her attention, by kissing her mentor and developing 'feelings' for her and then proceeds to 'apologize' and tell Tae all the ways it was his fault. They break up and the mentor treats BM like she's been treating Tea and BM is like 'nope' and goes back to Tae. I honestly fast forwarded most of their scenes.
The ex (Jane's) story was stupid and not needed. It didn't serve anything except to make Ryan jealous and feel insecure. The dude steals Ryan's work and Jane's answer is to disappear and not respond to Ryan at all for I don't even know how long. Then when he does show up again it's to tell Ryan that he's going to Hong Kong for the foreseeable future and to make sure Ryan isn't mad at him for it. And of course the door mat that is Ryan's character says no he's not and he's supportive. So maybe long distance relationship??? Nope, Jane leaves and doesn't contact Ryan for FIVE F N YEARS. Then walks back in like king crap and Ryan is again a door mat. No kiss or anything. The End.
So to sum up this BL series. No one dates except Tae and Ba-Mhee. There is maybe 2 kisses in the whole show and ones a good bye kiss. There is not relationship between the main characters at all except mentor and intern. It was a waste of time in my opinion if you are looking for a romance.
EXCEPT - all the actors were awesome. I wish they had more to go on, but they did what they could with what they had. I think Gun was wasted in this role as he really didn't do much except stare at people with either annoyance or deer caught in headlights. It's a bummer because I was so looking forward to another awesome series by Gun and Off, but it was a miss.

I felt sorry for Babe.
I really enjoyed this series, which I didn't expect. The story was interesting and the acting was good. I liked most of the characters and was engaged for most of the series. I felt very sorry for the main character, Babe, though. He was a major arrogant douche at the beginning and not very nice to Charlie. But when you get to know his character, you realize why he acted that way. Everyone lied to him. I don't think one person in his life, including Charlie, told him the truth. He was used by everyone and then was told to calm down when he got upset over yet another betrayal. Charlie was likable and towards the end you understand why he did what he did, but he was still never honest with Babe, until the end, then did something that messed Babe up for a good while, without consulting him or anything. The one thing I did AND didn't like about this series was how easily Babe forgave everyone that betrayed him. Especially Charlie and Way. I get why and I am glad it wasn't drawn out, but I also kind of wanted Charlie to beg a little and have to earn back Babe's trust. I did like how the roles were reversed in this bl. Instead the macho big guy as the top, he was the bottom and the nerd smaller guy was the top. They have great chemistry and I did enjoy seeing act against each other. It was on the sad side as far as story line and topic, considering it had to do with child abuse, trafficking, and killing kids. So be warned.

Can't count how many times I've rewatched this show.
I love this series so much! There are three parts, each focusing on a different couple, but everything is intertwined. All the actors in this series did such an amazing job. I didn't know any of the actors except Force and Book, which is why I originally wanted to watch this series, and ended up in love with all of them! The acting was great, the comedy was awesome, I even loved the sound effects. lolSpoilers.....
Arc and Arm: Their story was the first part of the series, episode 1-8, which tells how they met and what they thought of each other and how their relationship progressed. At first, honestly, I did not really like Arc or their story much. I was bummed because like I said, I watched it for Force and Book. Arc is an a hole most of the time to Arm, but apparently that is his 'love language'. Kind of like pulling a girls pigtails because the boy likes her. He is mean and aggressive and pretty much talks down to Arm at the beginning. Throughout the series though I grew to love Arc. He is subtle in his hilarity! Arm is just as strong willed and spiteful and doesn't take much of Arc's crap and even deals some of his own. They both played their characters well. There wasn't a lot of drama or the 'third' wheel coming in to cause jealousy and miscommunication. I also loved that after their 8 episodes, we still get to see them as background characters and their progression in life. Force and Book were great together as always and seeing them in this really healed my soul after watching the craptasiticness that was Only Friends.
In episodes 1-8 we also see the progression of the relationship between Pond (Arc's friend) and Sand (Arm's friend). I didn't spend a lot of time on this couple, but they were sweet and cut and Pond was patient and determined. Sand was kind of clueless but adorable. We get to see them throughout the whole series and how their relationship is going as they go through college and graduation.
Yotha and Gun: Their story is in the second part of the series, episodes 9-16, which focuses on them learning to live together as roommates, growing into sort of friends, and then into romantic relationship. Yotha was very hard to like. He was not nice to anyone, not even his brothers. He grows on you....slowly. Out of the three main focused relationships, theirs had the most angst and frustration. Yotha played around with Gun's feeling, imo. I really didn't like the way he would get Gun's hopes up just to dash them because he was having a bad day or just didn't want to communicate. I also really did not like that they had Yotha kiss his ex when Gun was present and then proceed to pretend like nothing happened and never apologized or really even explained why he did it. Then proceeds to string Gun along until he makes up his mind if he can learn to 'love' or not, something that stems from his mom's abandonment of him when he was young and then War basically having him believe he didn't know what love was. You end up loving Yotha, but he really had to work on it. I really loved Santa's portrait of Gun. He was hilarious and a little turd to his friends. He conveyed so much with his face. When he's happy and mean it's great. When he's heartbroken and scared it's horrible. Him and Perth worked really well together. Gun and Arm together is one of my favorite moments of the series! lol
War and Kloa: Was is Yotha's ex and during the 9-16 episodes they are the side couple. I really wasn't interested in their story much. From what I gather, because I skipped a lot of it. Kloa is a hot head that likes to fight and is extremely jealous of Yotha, because War babies him due to his guilt of breaking up with him. So their growth is Kloa learning to control his anger and talk it out with War. And War learns to put Kloa before Yotha and treat him like an actual boyfriend. I love Aou and Boom and they did great, I just didn't find their characters very interesting.
As with the Arm and Arc we get to see both couples continue to grow and develop over the culmination of the series.
Faifa and Wine - There story is the third (and final) main story of the series, episodes 17-24. I have to say that these two were by far my favorite! Faifa in general was the best character. Junior played him to perfection! I could watch a whole series of just Faifa's shenanigans. There story actually starts at the beginning of the series where they meet for the first time. Then they meet a few times in the second story. And finally we get to focus on them in their story. Wine is heart broken and in the closet because he's ashamed of being gay. Faifa is a yes man because he doesn't want to hurt anyone by rejecting them, because like his brother Yotha, he was also abandoned my his mother at a later age and thought the only way people would love him was if he was doing things for them to make them happy. Wine helps him by taking care of him and putting him first and not asking for anything in return. He helps him slowly become ok with telling people no. They communicated everything to each other and it was refreshing!
I can not handle Faifa and Gun's relationship. They are so funny. I would love to see more of them and the 'fighting' they do. All the side characters were awesome! They all had a part to play and none of them felt like 'fillers'. They all bought something to the series. The last few episodes were a nice way to close out the series with everyone working together to help Kloa propose to War. It was cute and fluffy and made you do that sigh when you're happy for the characters. Over all I really really love this series. I wish they would continue it with new couples and cameo's or guest appearances from these characters. I definitely recommend if you want light, funny, with a smidge of drama about a bunch of college friends growing up and falling in love.

Toxic Friendship
I can not handle how much I dislike Tuo. He is so manipulative and toxic to Junxi. I get that he has had a mad crush on Junxi for their entire friendship and that he treats his 'friend' poorly because Tuo is worried about his own feelings, but he really doesn't give a crap about Junxi's feelings. It could just be because the show is rushed and there isn't a lot of talking going on before they move on to a new scene. Examples how Tuo doesn't truly care about Junxi. He basically SA Junxi in the movie theater bathroom. He non con touched and kissed him afterwards. When Junxi asked him to give him time to adjust to the idea of becoming boyfriends instead of just friends and to not kiss or touch him without his permission, this dude IGNORES his existence for days and treats him like a stranger or an enemy. Junxi is so confused about his own feelings and the fear of losing a friend he's had since he was a child that he acts like he's in the wrong instead of Tuo. And when confronted Tuo says he could never hate him and then gets mad at Junxi when another student tries to non con kiss him, and as punishment pressures him into having sex.I opted out of the rest of the series after that. I don't get the whole 'I have a crush on my friend, so I'm going to punish that friend, treat them like crap, gaslight them into thinking they have to either date / sleep with me or our friendship is over' bs. Protecting your heart, definitely, but not by tearing the other person down to make you feel better or throwing tantrums to get what you want from them.

A light and fluffy series I'll be rewatching
This was such a great fluffy, with a smidge of drama, show. I loved that the 'nerds' were just that. They didn't change who they were to fit someone else's idea of them. With the exception of Daisy, she tried to change but not because her boyfriend wanted it and it was cleared up very quickly. I loved all the 'alpha' males in this series! As soon as they caught sight of their love interests that was it. They charged in full speed and didn't pull any punches. There was no miscommunication and only like one or two misunderstandings that the characters were quick to correct. Sure there were some scenes that were a little cringey and you do get some second hand embarrassment on occasion, but that doesn't stop it from being funny and fun to watch.Nuea and Toh - I loved how unashamed Toh was in his obsession with Nuea. His imagination is hilarious and his confidence is great to see. He also doesn't shy away from kisses or touch or anything really, when he's given the chance. lol Nuea was a little hard to like the first episode, but you can kind of understand that Toh needs those little pushes to get him to see that he can have his crush. I ended loving Nuea so much! They were both great together.
Sky and Joa - Joa was so stubborn, but understandably so. He is a little chubby, though not really, and insecure. He sure made Sky work for his affection. lol Sky is the best character in the series, in my opinion. He was so cute and funny and so set on getting Joa to give him a chance, almost from the moment they locked eyes on each other. He was pushy, but not aggressive and he always respected Joa's wishes. He constantly upped his game.
Intouch and Daisy AND Tor and Som, unfortunately, did not get much time in their own romances. They were awesome and I would have loved to have at least an episode or two of just Intouch and Daisy and one or two of Tor and Som. They were interesting characters and I wanted to know more.
Toh, Joa, Daisy, and Som - I LOVE their friendship. They were more like siblings that bicker and tease, but square up against anyone that tries to hurt one of them. Som was the mama of the group and she didn't take any crap. lol I could have just watch a show of these four without any romance and it would have been so much fun.
I would also like to add that I loved that none of the 'nerds' had a miraculous glow up. The all ended the series how they started it and it was awesome.
