Maybe I didn’t fully understand the events, but as much as I personally *"hate"* the character of Yue Yue, I think she’s actually the victim in this whole story. She went out with the MC because she was attracted to him—while that may not be a great reason, everyone has the right to choose their partner for their own personal tastes and reasons.
That said, the MC—despite not giving her gifts or taking her out even once a year to a nice place, supposedly because he’s poor—couldn’t at least take care of his appearance? I don’t think many women like it when their partner lets themselves go; it shows that he took the relationship and the girl for granted and didn’t even make the minimum effort to maintain it.
Then in the end, she left him in a relatively civil way. Even in the scene where the MC is hurt by Yue Yue’s new boyfriend, he wasn’t abandoned on the street—he was taken to the hospital, which is basically the least one can do. If Yue Yue were truly that bad, she would’ve just left him there.
Anyway, even though she left him civilly and even explained her reasons (also, I’d like to add—if you want to get back with your ex, couldn’t you at least spend a little extra to go to a nicer place?), he decides to take revenge. Where I come from, we call that toxic behavior.
Now let’s talk about the ML. As twisted as the MC's reasons are from my point of view, the ML literally gets together with Yue Yue, betrays her, and uses her just to get his snakes back. I know Yue Yue got with him for the money, but at least she didn’t betray him. And then there’s the scene where she wants to kill the snake— even the MC is jealous of the ML’s snakes. Yue Yue is constantly being threatened by that reptile and ignored without knowing the reason by his owner, now I know that is excessive her behavior but nobody in this drama is normal, so... If the main couple weren’t “the main couple,” we’d probably be insulting them.
Even so, I’m not saying Yue Yue is a decent person, but the fact remains that, no matter how cute the MC and ML might be together , they’re still both horrible people.
