The line is totally different as well as the delivery. That chair banging got so much personality. I’ve been frustrated even at the earlier eps because they keep skimping over the fl’s storyline. The final ver made her character confusing.

The reason I can somewhat understand this character is that she kinda hits close to home. She isn't 100% bad. She can be incredibly selfish, but she's not completely heartless.
I think one of wmz's lines "It's hard for a woman to have no money" and along with her refusal to die in such an undignified way, says a lot about why she is the way she is. Life is so hard that, most of the time, money and beauty are the only things that give women a sense of security. It's clear by the end that she’s deeply regretful. Although it may be unacceptable in the leads' eyes, I see that regret as her redemption.
I don't really see the point of comparing the main leads' pasts. They both suffered. The only difference is that we've seen far more of chen yi’s than mj's, so it's easier to empathize with him.
I also don't understand why some people insist that mj only came back to make cy suffer. Is it unrealistic to think she'd have some resentment? She’s got serious abandonment issues. As for the claim that she’s deliberately trying to make chen yi jealous, I don't see it. Most of that seems to come from cy’s own insecurities, not from mj intentionally provoking him.
And honestly, I don't know why the idea of being friends with an ex is treated as if it's impossible. It may be weird, but it does happen. From what I remember in the novel, cen ye is actually a pretty supportive and chill friend to miao jing. Their relationship isn't written as some elaborate scheme to make chen yi jealous. The reason miao jing had exes wasn't because she was trying to replace chen yi or hurt him. She was trying to move on with her life, which is the very thing cy wanted her to do. The sad thing is that, despite genuinely trying, she eventually realized she couldn't fully let go of chen yi.
I'm curious to see how the binge watching crowd will receive this show. The story telling leaves a lot of room…
Right! This drama left a lot of room for interpretation. Reading fan discussions really opened my eyes to perspectives I might not have noticed on my own. I had so many realizations because fans pointed out details that I completely missed.
What I love about this drama is that it's hard to truly hate any of the characters (except that mf zb), but they aren't particularly lovable either. They're just human. Flawed and complicated.
Jing's dynamic with her mom is actually very common in real life, as sad as that may sound. As people grow older, they tend to reminisce more, dwell on their regrets, become more emotional, and often feel lonely. Parents, in particular, sometimes develop a strong desire to make up for their shortcomings when raising their children. From what we see, Wei Mingzhen knows her time is running out, and with the little time she has left, she simply wants to spend it with Miao Jing. It’s just sad because mj’s heart had already gone cold for her.
I wouldn't say she was completely heartless toward the younger Miao Jing, either. The yacht scene makes it clear that she did care about her daughter, just never more than she cared about herself.
