Slow and repetitve
The drama started off at a slow pace, focusing on the characters' childhoods—which was sweet and nostalgic in its own way. Things picked up once the main leads reunited, but the storyline began to feel repetitive, especially with the male lead constantly disappearing without much explanation. His mother’s overbearing and controlling behavior also became quite frustrating to watch.By the time I reached the final few episodes, the pacing dragged enough that I ended up fast-forwarding through much of it. Certain plotlines felt unresolved, particularly the relationship between Yu Qiao and Qin Ye Yun, as well as the main lead’s dynamic with his parents. A more thoughtful closure would’ve really helped those arcs feel more complete.
That said, I genuinely appreciated the portrayal of friendship throughout the series. It’s rare to see a group of childhood friends stay connected so deeply, even after years of no contact, reconnecting in high school, and managing to maintain that bond while pursuing their separate paths in university. That enduring connection was definitely one of the drama’s strongest points.

Cliche story and annoying ex
The drama actually starts off quite interesting until about episode 8. It was obvious after that the ex was going to feel entitled and try to ruin her + the ML. So annoying that he comes crawling back to her and even blamed her for "cheating" when they already broke up and he was the one that cheated. Bro, please. Realized too late that she was the true good one and then expect her to crawl back to you.The doctor also kind of annoying, why stick your nose into everything and make decisions for ML. He knows what he's doing and was open to you about the FL.
I'm probably not going to finish the drama, wish the story could've been a little different than the ex trying to take revenge on her. I get that you "lost" the house and its so much money, which seems like that's all the family care about.

Interesting Concept
This drama was relatively enjoyable and had an interesting concept, especially for someone like me who enjoys gaming. I really appreciated the game-inspired storyline and the various missions the female lead had to complete—it added a fun and engaging layer to the plot. The chemistry between the leads was strong for most of the series. You could genuinely feel their affection for each other, which made their interactions feel natural and heartfelt.
However, things started to slow down around episode 25. The focus shifted heavily toward reminiscing about the past, which made the pacing feel a bit dull. The ending also left me wanting more. Instead of a simple forehead kiss, a real kiss would’ve felt more satisfying given everything they’d been through. It would’ve been nice if the final scene had been extended to show them actually reuniting—talking, catching up, and sharing a proper moment together.

Not your typical historical drama
Keeping it brief — I really enjoyed this drama. It had me hooked episode after episode, always wanting to see what happens next. The chemistry between the leads isn’t your typical sweet, romantic kind — it’s more subtle and layered. There’s a deep sense of understanding between them, and their shared gazes (especially from Cheng Lei) say so much without needing words. I feel this changes near the end, FL should notice something is off when ML comes back from talking to emperor.
That said, there were a few plot points that felt unclear or unexplained — maybe I missed something? For example, how did he realize she was the girl he once saved at the temple and gave the candy to? Or how did he figure out she was faking her blindness when he brought in the doctor?
Despite those small gaps, I loved the story of her fighting to reclaim her place and the way the drama touched on gender equality. It showed that even if women can’t go to war, they still have powerful roles to play. The last 3 episodes though, I felt the insanity was not needed.
