TBH, I'm beginning to think the problem was NOT making the audience sympathize with the FL, but to make the audience…
Nanheng never manipulated the netizens, it’s the netizens who can feel his suffering, Yimeng fans who like to blame nanheng is so annoying.

Don’t forget that the FL repeatedly tried to kill the ML. Don’t act as if the FL is some kind of fairy while ignoring all the cruel treatment she gave to Nanheng. I just need to copy paste this.

The problem is that Yimeng, without fully reading the script, acted as if she knew everything, and just because she considered them ‘paper people,’ she ignored their feelings.

That's totally alright. The problem is Liu Yu Ning not you. He's always the same. I have watched 5 of his dramas,…
Just admit that you’re foolish in understanding the story instead of blaming the actor. In China, many people praise Yuning’s acting and even the character Nanheng is very popular there, while some people like you who don’t understand acting just talk nonsense.

No. I don’t think you actually understand the story or remember exactly what the FL did to the ML, and how cruel the FL was. Don’t force me to like Yimeng’s character, we all have different opinions

He tried to KILL her repeatedly. JFC. Why do so many people completely ignore that?
Don’t forget that the FL repeatedly tried to kill the ML. Don’t act as if the FL is some kind of fairy while ignoring all the cruel treatment she gave to Nanheng so why do some FL fans try to ignore that ?

Plus, as viewers we have our own oppinion,if we don’t like Yimeng’s character, you can’t force us to like her or excuse all of her cruel behavior toward Nanheng

No, what needs to be emphasized is that Yimeng who always thinking she is right. Just because she believed they were ‘paper people’ doesn’t mean she could ignore their feelings and cling to a script she hadn’t even fully read. In reality, Yimeng’s view of Nanheng was not corrects, she was just acting like a know-it-all about Nanheng’s life.

And one more thing, many sacrifices were made by Nanheng for Yimeng without any force from the writer, and even his past suffering was truly real. Basically, Yimeng’s so-called knowledge about Nanheng’s past was mostly wrong

Why ignore the fact that Yimeng also repeatedly tried to kill Nanheng. She was so obsessed with the script that she never gave Nanheng a chance to explain, and even when she learned the truth, she remained obsessed. Anyone like that is not a good person. Yimeng is so biased, always thinking of herself as the best, while shifting all the blame into Nanheng.

What’s truly foolish are Yimeng’s fans who forget all of Yimeng’s cruel actions toward Nanheng.

"Someone ‘forced by the script’?" This is exactly the mindset of Yimeng’s fans, defending her without acknowledging the story, while Nanheng repeatedly sacrificed himself for Yimeng until he was covered in blood, and that was without any script.

What’s really stupid is those who forget how cruel she was to Nanheng and you keep trashing everyone who with different opinions from you. We all have different opinions, and if we don’t like the character Yimeng, you cannot force us to

ADWAD is Yuning’s first drama as a male lead that failed to reach the 10K iQIYI Index, unlike TSOPG, AJTL, and TPOB. In my opinion one of the reasons is that in ADWAD, the female lead was overly obsessed with the script and treated the male lead poorly.

Even though “Yimeng” fans defend her by saying her character is complex, that doesn’t change the overall audience reviews. Viewers basically doesn’t have to be see purely romance, but definitely not one where the female lead mistreats the ML.

In TSOPG, although misunderstandings occurred between the FL and ML in the middle episodes, the FL focused more on business and wasn’t obsessed with mistreating the ML, and the misunderstanding didn’t drag on for long.

In TPOB, every problem was discussed openly, misunderstandings didn’t last long, and the FL treated the ML kindly.

In AJTL, which is Yuning’s favorite drama, the FL was very smart and mature. Her character was truly impressive.

Actually, I liked Yitong’s character in her drama WOACN, where she played “Su Jiuer.” She was really cool and so lovely. That’s why I had high expectations for her character in ADWAD, but it turned out to be completely different

But overall, ADWAD is an interesting drama. I started to enjoy it after episode 32, when all the misunderstandings were resolved. I’d rate it 8,5/10, plus I like Yitong and Yuning as actors.

What needs to be emphasized is that Yimeng never actually read the script in full, yet she acted as if she knew everything happened to Nanheng, even though not all of it was true. Remember, she often accused Nanheng of mistakes that were actually not in line with reality.

“According to what she remembered” this keyword should have made her more cautious, especially since she didn’t read the script completely. She doesn’t have to be perfect, but she should at least use her brain to think, instead of being so obsessed with the script and blaming Nanheng for everything.

As for Liu Shiliu, she didn’t know because she hadn’t read the script in full. And regarding Yiting, before Yiting and Nanheng made their agreement, the night before that Nanheng actually tried to explain, but Yimeng didn’t even give him the chance. Even if he did explain, Yimeng wouldn’t have believed it anyway because of her obsession with the script.

Once again, the iconic scenes did still happen, but not exactly the same. She should have used her brain to think. She didn’t have to like Nanheng, but at the very least she should have be a good person and tried to find out the truth before blaming everything on someone else.

Yimeng ended up becoming someone who acted like a know-it-all, always thinking she was right, and placing all the blame on Nanheng

The irony of the audience misunderstanding Song Yimeng the same way she misunderstood Nan Heng, well played Mr.Scriptwriter.
To be exact, some of the audience are not misunderstanding but so frustrated with how she misunderstood Nanheng and treated him.

Actually, many people understand the story, which is why many complain about the FL’s character. We’re all…
The scenes that Yimeng read did happen, but not in the same way. This is the point where Yimeng should have used her brain to think, instead of fixating on the unfinished script and blaming Nanheng for everything.

One example is the incident with Yiting, where there was no dialogue from Yiting even though there should have been. Several events were indeed not exactly the same as what Yimeng had read.

imagine nanheng’s position: a strange woman suddenly knows all his secrets, and those secrets could make him…
I think you missed this, Nanheng’s initial goal in approaching Yimeng was indeed for power, but the reason he tried to kill yimeng was not because of that, it was because yimeng knew all his secrets that could threaten his life, and don’t forget how yimeng repeatedly tried to kill nanheng multiples time because of her obsession with the script she hadn’t fully read.

As for the “iconic scenes,” they did happen, but many were not exactly the same as in the script. Here, yimeng should have used her brain to think instead of just being fixated on the script. For example: in the lantern incident, it was Liu Shiliu who saved her not Nanheng, even though they are the same person. During the incident with yiting, there was no dialogue from yiting even though there should have been. And many more, the point is, several events were different, but yimeng didn’t use her brain to think, she only fixated on the script and kept blaming nanheng for everything.

Also, it’s like you forget sometimes that when nanheng saved her father, it wasn’t under the writer’s compulsion, there was no sound of typing at all. Many sacrifices Nanheng made were not because the writer forced him or because of the typing sound.

And about “yimeng not knowing nanheng was covered in blood because he was saving her father” this is exactly the point where she should have used her brain to think. She even knew that nanheng was injured, but she never tried to find out the reason behind it. Instead, she kept obsessing over the script and the character of Nanheng.
In the end any of nanheng’s sacrifices to help yimeng were not forced by the script, yet yimeng never used her brain to think onthats, for example, when Nanheng saved Yimeng from the cliff, the script only helped locate yimeng, but even without the script, nanheng was willing to risk himself for her. And when he was whipped for saving yimeng’s father—that was 100% Nanheng’s own choice, with no compulsion whatsoever from the script.

I don't understand the amount of hate the FL is getting. Especially those saying that she's only focused on killing…
imagine nanheng’s position: a strange woman suddenly knows all his secrets, and those secrets could make him death, nanheng is not someone who would suddenly try to harm yimeng without reason, same with yimeng’s POV, she hated and try to harm nanheng because she stuck on the script. But what makes yimeng’s character is so frustation is that when some changed happend, she didn’t think about it and became obsessed with nanheng’s negative image, meanwhile, nanheng keep changed a lot and became someone who can protect her with his life.

For example, yimeng kept saying that nanheng would kill her family, but in reality, nanheng was even willing to endure lashes to protect yimeng’s father, yet she didn’t even try to find out what really happened, even when yimeng’s hands were covered in nanheng’s blood, she still held on to her negative thoughts about him.

Also I feel like a lot of viewers fail to understand that the characters in the show are not us. They do not possess…
Actually, many people understand the story, which is why many complain about the FL’s character. We’re all watching the same drama and are free to express our opinions about the characters. She entered a script that she hadn’t fully read, and when some changes happened, she didn’t use her own brain to think. Instead, she just kept blaming the ML for everything. She’s only seeing other people’s mistakes without reflecting on herself, in some situations, she didn’t even give Nanheng the chance to explain and only stuck to the script.

Note: I’m commenting on the drama character/yimeng, not the real life actress
On A Dream within a Dream Aug 25, 2025
Honestly, if it weren’t for Liu Yuning, I would have already stopped watching because the female lead’s character is so frustrating. She’s selfish, only focused on killing the male lead, and seems too fixated on the script without fully reading it. In episode 1, she only reads her own parts and doesn’t even know Liu Shiliu’s identity. Even after she finds out, she still blames Nanheng for everything.

The peak of frustration is when Yiting/her sister is the one who raped Nanheng, but Nanheng is the one who gets blamed. She doesn’t even give Nanheng a chance to explain. This is truly frustrating. In fact, this is the first drama of Yuning that I stopped at episode 25, and only continued watching after I found that it had a good ending.

Actually, both Yuning and Yitong are good actors who can make me feel the suffering and frustration through their characters.

As good as Liu Yu Ning was in this drama, It was Li Yi Tong who carried this drama. She had an impeccable performance…
For me, it’s Liu Yuning who carries this drama. I might have dropped it many times because I can’t stand seeing Nanheng suffer, but I keep watching because of Yuning’s acting skills.
On A Dream within a Dream Aug 6, 2025
The drama is great. Although Nanheng suffers a lot, he is very handsome. Poor Nanheng is constantly misunderstood. Honestly, I almost stopped watching halfway through because I couldn't bear to see his suffering, but I continued out of curiosity and really enjoyed the last 3 amazing episodes.
