An easy, fun watch for a break from intense dramas

I shortlisted this drama because I was in the mood for something light, and I thought a hotel-themed story would suit the year-end vibe. Overall, the drama is fine. It does what it sets to deliver something light, fun, and cute without demanding too much emotional investment.

What works for me:

Cinematography - I really enjoyed the Korean-style cinematography. It has a romantic, cozy feel, and many of the shots are beautifully framed. The visuals are easy on the eyes, and I appreciate that it doesn’t rely on heavy filters, which makes everything feel more natural and pleasant to watch.

Main leads’ chemistry- Both leads look very “K-drama-esque” and visually complement each other well. Their chemistry is convincing, with plenty of cute and funny interactions. By the middle of the drama, they already give me the vibe of an old married couple, which I found endearing. Hahaha.

Story elements - Some of the storylines involving the hotel patrons were surprisingly touching, to the point I even teared up a little. The overall narrative progresses naturally, and I was especially relieved that the writers avoided overused, silly tropes like memory loss.

How the main couple handles misunderstandings and disagreements - One aspect I really appreciated about this drama is how the main couple handles misunderstandings and disagreements in a fun yet mature way. In many romcoms, conflict resolution can become a turn-off when writers overdramatize issues or repeatedly use them as plot twists. Here, the conflicts feel light and natural, making the drama easy and enjoyable to watch.

What doesn’t work for me:

Pacing - The pace is quite slow, likely because the story is grounded and focuses on ordinary people navigating everyday struggles. While this focus gives the drama a realistic tone, it can feel particularly sluggish for viewers who are accustomed to dramas with strong twists or high-stakes plot developments.

Writing and impact - At times, the story feels a bit cringe, and I think the writing could have been more impactful. With stronger storytelling or more memorable moments, this drama could have stood out more instead of blending into the background.

Overall:

This is a suitable drama for viewers who want something light, comforting, and low-key, especially if you’re looking for a break from large-scale productions or intense plots. It’s not particularly memorable, but it’s an easy and fun watch because of the leads’ chemistry.
