Just finished watching Episode 26 - I will always appreciate the writers here allowing the female lead to beat a powerful villain on her own, and making the ML appear after everything was over. And instead of collapsing, she was even able to run away from him (before he caught her).
This is how you do a powerful/badass female lead on the battlefield, you dumb writers from LOFG (and many other shows).
I'm on ep 20, but I've always found the female lead overpowered
An overpowered character wouldn't get saved sometimes more than once in a single fight. And there were a few instances like that in the opening 15 episodes.
Episode 19, when the ML saved the FL after she slipped on the hill - this is the unnecessary moment I hate in the FL-centric dramas, making the heroine look incompetent, while adding nothing to the story.
However, Episode 18 was absolutely fantastic, and the FL killing the 2nd in command among bandits was a truly spectacular kill.
"I dont get why folks are complaining" "you want to see guy overshadowing the fl "You missed the…
Yeah, I watched it back in the day - it also has a teenage (?) Wang Chu Ran, which is a major bonus in visual aspects :).
The FL there is amazing, but it can happen when the ML is weak (combat-wise at least). Typically, a bigger issue is when both FL and ML are supposed to be strong fighters, and in the majority of cases, the FL is watered down (including Dramas listed by @Kami abowe).
LOL at the scene at bandits spot in Episode 18, where injured Sui Yuanqing beats the supposedly undefeated master of the stronghold using one hand only.
So, the whole stronghold didn't have even one member who could defeat her using both hands?
LOL, just going through Episode 17 - it's always funny when the ML or/and FL lose 50% of their IQ points just to make the breakup and the Drama more dramatic. LOL.
In this case, I think the ML comes off worse - if he weren't a handsome guy, the ladies would burn the MDL to the ashes because of the lack of consent, lol.
Could you give any examples of the " female centric dramas where they dumb down ML roles?" I would love…
Thank you very much for the recommendation. Not exactly a fantasy fan, but based on some comments, it sounds like something from my female-centric alley.

"Could you give any examples of the " female centric dramas where they dumb down ML roles?" I would love to watch at least one of them :)."
Well, it's pretty clear - I like female-centric Dramas and I know how much the badassery level of the female leads goes down where there are "power couples", so I wanted to watch something like mentioned above.
According to novel readers, it was a ML that killed Lord what’s his ass not FL it seems that his fighting scenes…
"Him doing this for decades" is actually a joke on its own, seeing how young the actor is looking, so the Marquis himself is probably written to be younger than 27...
And despite it, we somehow are supposed to believe he has many years of experience, he is super-duper in everything, etc...
Yeah, right.
And I actually like this ML way more than an average ML in a C-Drama world.

It's not like I'm looking for something specific - I pretty much watched or tried to watch what interested me. It's more about female-centric dramas usually disappointing me due to the reasons I stated above. It's easier (doesn't mean easy) to find a better written Dramas of this genre in the Micro/Vertical Drama market.

Well, for you it's condescending, for me it's just a big difference in opinion/perspective - I'm yet to find a female-centric drama where I would not think the heroine is too much watered down. I'm talking mostly when Martial Arts are involved, as when she is smart socially/doing well in business, it looks better ("Blossom is a good example, and there are more).
But when Martial Arts are involved, and the ML is a strong fighter as well? Then it's a never-ending litany of the female lead getting injured, saved by the ML, 2ML, 3ML, getting kidnapped, etc...

"Romance of the Female Soldier" has a 5.4 there, so as "Pursuit of Jade" is substantially better (still with many flaws and tropes) , I will pick 6.3.
Agree on Dilraba - I've tried a few dramas with her and gave up every time quickly, not always because of her though.
And too bad regarding verticals - it takes some time to sort through them, but these days they are the main source of female-centric dramas for me.

But I guess we have a very different definition of "getting the glory".
"Legend of the Female General", lol :).
I would gladly watch them :).

This made absolutely no sense.
In this case, I think the ML comes off worse - if he weren't a handsome guy, the ladies would burn the MDL to the ashes because of the lack of consent, lol.
Great slap, though.
Can't wait until I catch up to it.
