I don't read much, but recently I've finished full 775 chapters of "I became the cannon fodder who died early, and I angrily married the villain". Quite a big achievement for me, but Lu Songli is just an amazing Female Lead and was too curious about her after watching Micro Drama based on it.
Getting back to the point, I'm yet to see a poor review of the "Female General" Novel, so the chance of me attacking it is actually quite high.

I don't think it's ridiculous to expect a Powerful General not to cry in the middle of the battle, giving her back to the opponent in a result, so he can kill her from behind.
I understand, you like Romance, and possibly, you live for moments when ML saves FL over and over again.
For me, it's ridiculous the way it is presented, especially under a "Legend of Female General" title. The same thing happened during the Water Battle, when the ML suddenly teleported himself from a few kilometres away, just to make his big save in the water, because of course, it would be a travesty if the FL could finish some opponents on her own without getting injured.
I see your point and this what I think could’ve happened. When she was with them as He Rufei they most probably…
Mysoginism is one thing, but General's Li Kuan idiocy and cowardness is another. I just have a tough time believing that he could be any better during the FL's original years as General Feihong.
Regarding FL getting saved again - I can only tell you to re-watch the end of the battle. The writers made He Yan not only ridiculously cry on the battlefield, but then the opposite army's Commander was pretty much ready to cut her head off from behind.
AND THEN OF COURSE DUDU IS HERE TO SAVE A DAMSEL IN DISTRESS...disguised as the Legendary Female General.
After watching episodes 25-26, the writers finally gave He Yan some leeway to showcase her brilliance (with Dudu away), but at the same time, made her look like an idiot for having a high opinion of someone like General Li Kuang. Was she blind and deaf and dumb before, when working with him as General Feihong?
And in the end, she had to be saved by the Dudu again. The writers make it impossible to believe that General Feihong was not only able to stay alive, but thrive as part of Fuyou Army, without Dudu saving her over and over and over again...
i planned on saving todays episodes for tomorrow to watch 3 together but i couldnt lol
That's my plan as well and it's easier for me, as not only the "Romance of the Female General" is a big disappointment for me, but also I got drawn in by "Flourished Peony" (but expect a lowered interest following the 5th episode)
5 episodes in - I really like it so far, but have a tough time accepting the fact that both FL and ML somehow thought she would be safe on her own in her In-laws' Mansion following a Divorce agreement. Total lack of foresight, IMO, inexcusable for such smart people.
I guess, it's another example of me getting ruined by Lu Songli's clarity and decision-making.
But even Dou Zhao (Blossom's FL) also wouldn't make a mistake like that (maybe visiting sick/injured Wu Shan in a disguise qualifies, though).
After finally finding decent subs, I'm starting to watch it.
The opening minutes, especially the colours and background music, heavily give me a vibe of "Story of Minglan". Any connection with writers/directors/producers between these two dramas?
Since I've posted a couple of replies below, I will write a bit more about this Micro Drama.I have been watching…
To show her brilliance, the way she destroys her female opponent's brother is both beautiful and ruthless.
- She traps him when he was thinking he was trapping her instead, planning to rape the FL to vent his sister's anger - However, the FL catches him and breaks his leg, making him addicted to painkillers and also makes him get raped by his servants (with broken bones too) - Then, using her medical abilities, she produces painkillers to sell him anonymously for a huge price - She invests the money in people, including paying the unlucky guy's maids to sow discord between him and his sister - After learning about her actions (she didn't hide anything on purpose), other families' kids, who were also bullied before by the above brother, also start trying to make his life more difficult - When his backyard became a mess, his family decided to send him away from the mansion, so the FL now hires a different maid to care for him there while he is recuperating - In the end, she was the only one caring for him, and he helped her to bring his family down, sharing some dirty money secrets
All of this was done in a way which looked quite believable (but better presented and explained in a Novel compared to the Drama).
Since I've posted a couple of replies below, I will write a bit more about this Micro Drama.
I have been watching mostly Micro Dramas for a few months now, and typically, I prefer FL-centric shows. <换亲后我顺便换了江山> is easily in my TOP 5 of the Vertical Dramas I watched so far, and the heroine here, Lu Songli, is by far the most capable Female Lead I have ever seen in a Drama, big one or small. She pretty much makes characters like Yingluo (from "Yanxi Palace") and Minglan (from "Story of Minglan") look incompetent in comparison. She is more on "Nirvana in Fire" Mei Chang Su level, with incredible chain and forward-thinking abilities, as well as the ability to understand people's hearts.
The Drama is based on a Novel and so far, it covers around only 1/5 of it (the full Novel is 775 chapters long and is an excellent read, despite the rough English translation from time to time). But, even as Part 1 (hopefully there will be more), the ending here is more than acceptable and completes the story well.
The production level and acting are more than acceptable for the Micro Dramas level. Overall, it's highly recommended to watch if someone can accept Vertical Drama limitations.
I can't post links yet. But, she is the FL in a Novel to Micro Drama adaptation - 换亲后我顺便换了江 or "After Changing the Marriage, It's Reasonable for Me to Change the Country ", you can find the profile here on MDL.
Absolutely brilliant character, making many "Smart Female Leads" look incompetent in comparison.
One thing - this Micro Drama has a decent ending, but the Novel so far was converted only in 1/5, so it's far from the finish line.
Hopefully next parts will be produced too. And who knows, maybe one day it will have a Standard Drama adaptation as well.

That's what He Yan should do before - to tell Dudu about herself before he realizes it, to keep control of the situation in her grasp.
And in the end, she had to be saved by the Dudu again.

It's utterly ridiculous.

The 1st part of the Drama ends around the 140th chapter, so it's still a long way to go.
And yes, it took her only 7 years to transform from the Exilee into a Female Ruler of the Country.
You can try to imagine what level of brilliance she keeps showing later to make it possible.

Also, be ready for a "Romance of the General" instead of the Legend.
Good review. Did you read a Novel?
And the Novel is great as well, but very, very, very long :)
