Time was not on their side, too many plots to tell in so little time. I can see they did their best trying to…
yep, i agree, giving the characters some more time to actually breathe would be a great addition, but as you said, time was really not on their side, which means they had to compromise, however all the plots are important for their storytelling as well as character development, so i understand why they did what they did

damn, seriously, this is great.

reading the novel really did change my view on a lot of cnovels. it was well paced, well written, with good story and compelling characters, and honestly, a very well flushed-out romance, which honestly did make sense, even for the sml (even if i went into it expecting there wasn't gonna be any) honestly, it was everything i was looking for (and when i tell you i cried a river reading a few chapters) so after finding out there was gonna be a cdrama, I was cautiously excited.

laot of novel to screen adaptations do lose a part of its charm it had as a novel, and i really dont think it's anybody's fault per se, its just smth that happens

how pleasantly surprised i was seeing the casting first of all, Ryan Cheng and Zhou Ye fit their roles perfectly, so does Li Qing. and even if they cut a few things from the story, i think it was a necessary cut for the story telling and pacing seen in cdramas, where the plot needs to move fast to keep our attention, so i think it was a good decision, overall improving a few pacing issues i felt the novel had in the first half

the fight choreo as well, i mean, it is obviously, exaggerated as is in all cdramas, but it is great, entertaining, and again, fast paced. (this show and crew obv has great sense of pacing and storytelling)

overall, i'm at episode 12, and I must say, for any of the novel enjoyers, this is a great adaptation, straying true to the source, yet enetertaining
