I am the opposite the sad scene in lotfg made me drop it at the end Zou ye didn’t deliver the needed emotions…
Nah, that’s just an exaggeration. Zhou Ye might still need a bit of improvement on her “gut-wrenching wails,” but she can cry on cue, has expressive body language, and delivers strong facial expressions. She even shows good expressions in her fight scenes, fierce and exuding a heroic spirit. I don’t think she’s forcing herself to cry. She already had red, watery eyes, and based on observation, her tears pool before falling down her cheeks (as seen when she kneeled before the emperor, when her master died, when she was kneeling at her master’s grave, when Xiao Jue came to take her back at Feihong Mansion, etc). So to me, it always comes across as natural rather than forced. Forcing is when you keep blinking just to push the tears out. From observation, she did not do that at all.
When you said she didn’t have any expression at all (a clear exaggeration), it says a lot about your preferences, not her acting prowess. There were weak spots sure, but let's not exaggerate and minimize her acting. Let's stay objective and respectful.
Overall just so so because Cheng Lei's fight scenes made up for it. He's phenomenal! But the FL's is kinda lacking…
Yes! Honestly I tried to give SL a fair chance but the chemistry is just not hitting it for me. Might give it a 2nd chance after a few months or so, maybe this is just LOTFG hungover because Zhou Ye and Cheng Lei's chemistry are too good!

Nope, those were all Zhou Ye. She did every stunt herself and even trained hard for it. She mentioned she took home two wooden swords to train even in her free time. The team was pretty vocal about it, including Cheng Lei, who mentioned that his fight scenes with her were among the fastest he had ever filmed. They wrapped them up in just one morning.
Hmm Zhou Ye is actually a phenomenal actress though? Her crying scenes always managed to move me especially in…
Yes, kinda agree she improved. She also did so well in Yesterday Once More. She can cry, but she specifically needs to improve her devastated, gut-wrenching wails, the type that, if you can't let it out, it feels like you can't breathe with all the bawling, wailing, and all that. Great improvement though. I heard positive feedback from Cheng Lei about Zhou Ye's professionalism. So she definitely got my attention, and one of the actresses I look forward to.

There’s definitely room for improvement, but I wouldn’t say I wasn’t moved or that she only showed a fraction of sadness. She conveyed the heartache well through her eyes and body language. She did so well in her crying scene in her movie Yesterday Once More. Still, you’re right that she needs to refine her heavier crying scenes. She can shed tears easily, but it’s the raw, gut-wrenching wails that she still needs to work on. She did well overall, though.
I finally finished this drama. It wasn't as bad as the feedback but I expected a bit more from Deng Ke who did…
Hmm Zhou Ye is actually a phenomenal actress though? Her crying scenes always managed to move me especially in LOTFG and Back from the Brink. She also has very good body language and face expressions. I love the details she adds to her acting.
Are the fight scenes and action choreography any good?
Overall just so so because Cheng Lei's fight scenes made up for it. He's phenomenal! But the FL's is kinda lacking in that department. If I were to compare it to LOTFG, LOTFG is better because both Cheng Lei and Zhou Ye are phenomenal in their fighting scenes.
