Blossom had good director and script, thats why their chemistry really blossomed. I cant say the same for this. The novel plot is good, the cast is 💯 and exactly how i imagined. We also have same actor who work very well tgt, but the directing sucks af they dropped the ball on delivering it. The shots start off looking beautiful, but as soon as it changes to a different angle it becomes so awkward with the close ups especially the intimate scene. I'm also starting to find it insufferable...i enjoy watching their BTS more, it feels much natural.

I think you judged the characters too quickly. Its been 4 eps only. Anyone that has read the book before know what kind of a person ML is. And its not exaggerated feminism or what, thats how FL actually behaves. But what i agree is the drama made ML act too submissive. Luckily lyr acts well and you can see he has layers and is not as innocent as u think. He's is literally using the Princess to enter officialdom

The cinematography is different from usual but i find it refreshing and the director rlly use alot of ambient noise. I also love how accurate those small details are to the novel. Tho i think they changed YS background story.
Sure if you like dominating fl and a more submissive ml. The princess is sensual, nonchalant and hot tempered (having escaped an abusive marriage alliance so she's just trying to protect herself), while yan shang is as cool as the jade, smart, gentle and is the most patient guy ever. He caught the princess's eye while they were at Lingnan and tried to use the opportunity to climb the ladder. Lots of steamy scene along the way...ml is clueless 90% of the time lol. They eventually became a power couple at the end. You can kinda get a gist of it, i dont want to spoil too much
